Let's hope they get an antepost market up for that

Him off 143 with the handbrake removed is a very appetising bet

I am not sure The Bosses Oscar can win the National Hunt Chase
Could see him winning the Ultima off a nice weight though

          • The british handicapper would definitely not let him run off 143

            Hed be running off 150+

I suspect a lot of irish horses will get murdered by the handicapper after last year

In my mind the plan for the season has been to quickly get 3 runs in not trying

get a nice low mark (mission accomplished)

take off the handbrake pick up a nice pot in the paddy Power or thyestes then run in the NHC

            • The plan for TBO wouldnt be a British handicap, given the 154 Hurdle rating given to him at Cheltenham.

I think the Paddy Power at Christmas off 143 is decent enough pot at Leopardstown at Christmas.

Then maybe the NHC as Gordon has suggested.

              Or

              maybe the Irish National.

Gordon likes that race for his Novices, then the Grand National a year later.

              • Agree with that saxon

If he wins the Paddy Power he will go NHC id say, if his mark is still low the irish national and a much bigger pot than the NHC would come very much into the equation

                • I think we have to assume that both TBO and RWF are going for the NH Chase - at this moment in time. Christmas may change things, it may not but at least after Christmas, we'll be a bit more sure of targets.

Has Gordy ever run two in this race? Seems he usually just targets one at it but happy for somebody to say otherwise

Edit. just seen he has ignore me

Galvin and Escaria Ten this year, if we ignore the temporary transfer to Ferguson with Galvin. Jury Duty and Mossback in 2018. Only checked back to 2018, but that's twice in the last 4 years. I think to get a fuller picture we need to see if another Gordon's surfaces, that could be Festival Novices bound.

Yeah I had a moment and totally forgot Galvin was gordys when I briefly looked. Missed the 2018 as both pulled up and was only flicking through so just missed 1 of them. Eitherway you answered the question perfectly so everyone’s hopes for Fred or the bosses Oscar can keep dreaming

                        • In the last 10 years, only two horses have taken in a Grade 1 Novice Chase prior to NH Chase for Elliott:

2018: Jury Duty - came 2nd 3m Novice Chase Fred appears to go for - was 4/1f but unseated rider when no chance
2015: Cause of Causes - came nowhere in Drinmore as second season novice - won

Not a well trodden path, but a path which has been trodden.

                          • The curveball of course is that pro riders were used in this race last season, who Elliott could find to partner a second horse I have no idea.

Neither will get in the Kim Muir, I think he may look at the Ultima for TBO but that can be a hot race and if he can get a half decent mark for that one he may choose to hold over to the Irish National.

But as always, 15/16 weeks is a long time and things can change so no-one’s plans are fixed and immovable at this stage….
