  • I also apologise, I see everyone else had moved on and brought it back to the matter at hand!

RWF wins all, thanks for coming

I can't see him as a G1 horse and if I'm honest I'm struggling to accept that he's improved that much on his 9th chase start, it strikes me of a either an overreaction by the handicapper or yesterday showed us how much the handbrake has been applied in the past, I'd suggest it's probably a combination of the two...

Right to bring it up. Personal digs and baiting about stakes aren't in line with responsible gambling or the forum we've built.

I should have actually banned that account from his very first post in hindsight.

No doubt we'll get another reincarnation before too long

        Thanks all.

        • Anyone know if there is an appeals procedure in Ireland regarding handicaps - 14lbs does seem excessive.

He failed to win the Irish National off 140 in the Spring and now the capper's saying he's 19lbs better that the Fairyhouse run.

Surely the British capper won't add any tax to this mark - will he?

At a guess Run Wild Fred will be running off 11st 2lbs minimum at Aintree - and even without any extra tax that should be enough to stop him

          • Whilst I don’t think RWF is actually a 160 horse, such a hike is very good news for NHC backers. By far his best chance of winning another prestigious race this season now. Suppose he could go RSA but I think they’d know he’s just short of being up to winning that, and that it wouldn’t really suit that horse I don’t think.

The good news for backers here is lobbing around 3m6f at Cheltenham in a Grade 2 would actually be far less taxing that a G1 over 3m - if the GN is their ultimate aim, that will enter calculations, but I personally don't think he's a 160 horse, or be good enough for an RSA

Yeah agree entirely with that. Plus for me, the further they go the better horse he will be. My GN slips for him admittedly look less attractive now but overall has to be a net positive still I think

Little chance that RWF would be higher in the UK than that monster rating.

Gordon will enter him over here to check.

Wouldnt it be great if we were lower, say 155, that would put the cat among the pigeons in Ireland with the O'Learys

                  • Available between 8-1 and 14-1 for the Festival Novices' Chase, and a general 10-1 chance for the National Hunt Chase, Vanillier's next race is likely to be dependent on where he can encounter his favoured soft ground.

Cromwell said: "He came out of Punchestown well, having had to do his own donkey work on ground that probably wouldn't have been slow enough for him. He wants every yard of that [2m6?f] trip and plenty more really. All things considered, you'd have to be happy."

He added: "The ground will dictate where he goes this Christmas. Leopardstown or Limerick are options. I know we're a long way off yet but you'd have to be concerned that unless the rain comes he wouldn't be going to Leopardstown."

                    • Really looking forward to seeing Capodanno on Sunday at Fairyhouse in a 2m 5f beginner's steeplechase. Also entered are Beacon Edge, Crosshill, Fury Road and Gars De Sceaux.

                      • Happy with Crosshill there. Jumping was fine and was outpaced by a race fit CDN over an inadequate trip. We didn't learn a whole lot with a view to this, but its the first stepping stone.

….thought it ran and jumped well. I notice it’s price for this remains unaltered, 66-1 still available.

                          • Might not be good enough but Jessie had said RSA in stable tour with Willie saying Stattler for this.

I like horses targeted at RSA for this, especially when the RSA looks as competitive as it does. Lots end up in NHC instead

                              • Ruby's column in Paddy Power today. He tips Eklat De Rire for Ladbrokes, but has this to say about Ontheropes...

"Ontheropes is in great form, he had a really good run last season when he was second to Monkfish in the Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse. We didn’t see him again until last month when he won the Munster National at Limerick. He is coming the same route as Total Recall came to win this race back in 2017. I believe he is a very good operator, who could win the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham or end up being a Grand National horse."
