I think this is by circumstance rather than design
Yeah sorry, I get what you’re meaning. I just don’t think he’s good enough as a chaser at all to be honest on what we’ve seen. He could benefit more as a second season novice, a year older etc.

He just hasn’t went on from his debut over fences. Most gave him the benefit of the doubt on debut, the form hasn’t really been up to much, he was beaten by a 132 rated hurdler who in theory, shouldn’t be getting close to him. I know hurdles and chase ratings don’t translate but you’d expect him to be beating him. He finished in front of Stratum but again didn’t win the race so hard to get too excited about that either. Pulling up last time after some bad mistakes would be a worry too.

50/1 available with bet365 and Paddy Power.

The owner had Next Destination in this race last year.*

I'm really hoping for an improvement today, but the trainers comments in his sporting life article are not overly enthusiastic which is cause for concern:

      14:50 Cavallino

      Cavallino34
      Age: 7| Weight: 12-0
      3/1
      J: D E Mullins| T: W P Mullins| OR: -
      Form: 8341-F2

"He ran very well when second to Stratum at Thurles last time and any improvement from that experience will be a huge help to him."

Has this horse come up on anyone's radar for this?
I thought Stratum had the measure of him and and more in the tank when they met. I didn't see anything that would indicate a reversal if they raced again

      • My opinion is that Elliott will repeat what he did with RWF with The Bosses Oscar. The race he'll be trying to win is the Irish National, and if he doesn't they'll keep his novice status intact and he'll be back for the NH Chase next season with the perfect profile.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I watched that back and I can see what you mean, but I'm just looking at their number of runs. Stratum is the finished article in my opinion, this lad could be open to future improvement, and an extra 5 furlongs might show that.

          • Dont think the bosses oscar is qualifying here.

            Edit: Now pulled up.

              • He's just not a natural chaser is he, hasn't looked anything above average at best in all his chase runs and that certainly confirms it.

He's also not really ever looked better than a handicapper either....

Possible, although not seen enough to be interested in him for a festival handicap.

                        • He'll be entered for a Pertempts qualifier just you wait and see.

If not then the Coral Cup is an option

                            • Pats Fancy coming here according to the trainer, 10 years after her Teaforthree won this for Rebecca Curtis under the late JT McNamara. Yet to qualify but aiming to do so in a couple of weeks.

He should already have qualified with his Chepstow runs
