Question for me is, do they think he’s such a good thing for the national that they do everything & anything they can to ensure he gets there with the best chance of winning, even if it means forsaking other potential prizes on the way? Would 4 miles around Cheltenham 4 weeks before be considered a sub-optimal prep? Who knows, and a lot of it is probably mind games too, do they want the handicapper knowing they think he has a winners chance in a festival race when he’s doing the national weights?
Gordons plans for the horse are largely irrelevant, unfortunately. The O'learys pull the strings and they will decide where RWF goes, hence why Gordon says stuff like (re Tiger) 'if I had it my way....'

    • I've backed RWF and am unsold if he does end up here. But imo it's on the agenda enough not to rush to cash in my opinion, so I'm sitting and waiting

They could be angling for a lower mark to go Kim Muir, as well as just missing Cheltenham. He's risky for those reasons, which is why I took TWAR 10/1, which is still available, vs 10/1 just here.

        • Given how Elliott has managed to ruin Galvin’s mark, a statement I’ll happily retract if that one goes close in the Gold Cup, I think he’ll be looking at what his best National chance will be and every chance that’s Run Wild Fred so he could easily be given an easy campaign, at least until Feb, then either swerve Cheltenham and head to Aintree fresh or tackle whichever handicap is easier.
I’d now be surprised if he heads here and the clues were there when Elliott was quiet on RWF in ATR stable tour and named this race as a target for The Bosses Oscar…

Yeah sure giggi will make the call as they did to swerve the Kim Miur last year but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind winning a race at the festival along the way if they think it’s viable, if he runs at the festival I’d be fairly certain this would be the only race they’d go for (and he’d win )

racking up a decent bit of Chase experience… can probably run another twice after this too, which does make him more appealing for the race

Still under 3M, so not qualifying for the NHC just yet.

                  • Anyone got Oscar Elite on there radar for this? Can be forgiven for his blunder and Tizzard might aim high, but with conditions more likely to suit the first day and a slower start than expected I could see them possibly going down this route. Fiddler and TBB looked speedier novice hurdlers going down the supreme and Ballymore routes before taking in the RSA. Native River went Albert Bartlett before going on to this race. Oscar Elite looks in the same mould as Native River. Big powerful staying chaser. Lots to like with big improvement to come over fences.

….in my notebook. In his stable tour, Tizzard says it’ll be a better chaser than hurdler & mentions RSA. 16-1 any race with Hills and Sky isn’t tempting enough.

Yeh this is bugging me. That mean's he'll have run to run 5 times pre March to qualify if he goes to Thurles. Gordon has campaigned him 4 times pre Martin Pipe and perhaps the Gordon fiasco prevented him running more pre Pertemps, so perhaps he needs his runs. I'd like to see him win at Thurles then go to the December meeting over 3m at Cheltenham. That would be perfect cause then he could take a spin over 3m in Jan then get ready for March. Still a bit to prove though but glad to have 36/1

Yep, already backed him. Hoping he has come out of the race OK as he absolutely crashed through the fence. Haven't heard anything since.

I completely forgot there was a 3m novice chase at Cheltenham in December that either TBO or Fred could run in!

Yeh its on the Friday I think. Entries for that will be very interesting if it contains a few of Gordons.

Tizzard sees him as their RSA horse - so I think that would be the plan. I think they’ll only consider this if he proves (in their eyes!) not to be good enough for that.

Remember they ran Fiddler & The Big Breakaway in last years RSA as ‘outsiders’ so I think they’ll stick to RSA - IMO
