  • The fact Willie even mentioned it as an option in his interview during the week means there is definitely a chance Concertista reverts and that was before SWIW.

I do think it’s unlikely but not something anyone can rule out for now.

In this scenario, doubling Elimay on Saturday with Concertista in this race could be an option.

          Good thinking

          I may just do that

          • She’s also still not won a G1 hurdle so it’s even more likely I’d say…..

              • Watched Willie interview and deffo see CONCERTISTA reverting back to hurdles and coming here
Willie thinks Concertista is not yet ready for Mares Chase at Cheltz, remember she is a novice and the likes of Elimay, Silver Forever and others have loads more chase experience
Thoughts return to Benie Des Dieux reverting back to hurdles after chasing and winning this race
I've already got her covered nicely but she has went into some nice doubles at her current price of 10/1 which could be huge come middle of March
                Thoughts ?

See post 428 re BDD. It's possible, but highly unlikely IMO. Concertista looks a natural over fences, whereas BDD didn't.

                    • Willie comment from Lydia Hislop coloumn.................

Mullins identified Cheltenham’s Grade Two Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase as a possible target – tracing the path successfully trodden by her former stablemate and fellow novice Colreevy last season - but also sounded a note of caution.

“It might be a year too early – she could go for Mares’ Hurdles – but she’ll probably have another run somewhere,” he conceded.

“She’s so sharp at her fences. I’d say she probably takes the top three inches off every fence,” he added, before revealing there had been some debate with owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede about whether to send this seven-year-old mare chasing. “They were wondering, as she’s a valuable mare, would it be too risky going over fences?” he recalled. “But I said: ‘Look, she’s very sharp.’ She knows what height to jump. She jumps them like a hurdle. She’s very good.”

                      • Was colreevy not ready when she won the race with just 3 prior runs? Seems a strange comment to make given the outcome of last years race

                        • IF Concertista does go to the mares hurdle. surely she will be hot favourite again like last year? Feel like she's much better than the current crop in the market unless Epatante runs in this

Well he didn't say she isn't ready for the Mares Chase and said she was a good jumper (low but good)

Galopin Des Champs, Klassical Dream, Concertista and Redemption Day put down Cheltenham Festival markers for the master trainer at Leopardstown and Limerick....

                            • The thing is, Willie does have Elimay who at this stage has the better chase form in the book. He'll know how they compare .

                              • Personally I can see Concertista going back over hurdles as long as Elimay puts her last run well behind her. If not I think Tellmesomthinggirl will win as apart from Concertista I can't see that Mullins has anything else to win this race, unless we see Gauloise come out and put in a big performance but she's the same owners as Telmesomtthinggirl and I think she's the better horse out of the two.

I won't be putting any money on Concertista coming here, but I see it happening...
