Black Tears then went on to win the Mares Hurdle this year off 148.I dont think HHU is too far behind that so the 33/1 with PP has tempted me into a good EW bet.

I think HHU is better than 144 to be honest, at least 3 or 4 lbs. Now i dont know if this is the target but worth a pop at 33/1. They did run her in the Grade 1 that Klassical Dream won at Punchestown after Cheltenham where she ran an ok race but it shows maybe they have a bit bigger target this year. We also know she handles the track and actually finished a running on 7th in the Supreme won by Shiskin after having no luck in running at all.

So weird that you have said this, I was looking through the form lines earlier and seeing she had put Telmesomethinggirl away at Leopardstown in Feb albeit receiving a couple of lb but still beat her by over 3 length, then watched the coral cup back and was wondering if there was a reason she hadn't been mentioned for this. So thought just now ill go on and ask the question if anyone else had considered her! 2 wins from 3 at the track and 1 from 2 at the festival if they were to aim here then surely the 33/1 looks well worth considering.

Surely it was more than a couple of lb.

Heaven help us 10 st 5 lb with jockey taking another 7 lb off
      Telmesomethinggirl 11 st

      That's 16 lb for 3.5 lengths

Ahh yes didnt notice the jockey taking off the 7lb my apologies, Heaven Help Us was 10-12 Telmesomethinggirl 11st so a 9lb difference.

This is why I was going to ask the question though in case there was something I had missed which I assumed there would be and looks like there was.

I really like Telmesomethinggirl for this, maybe Heaven Help Us isnt a million miles away from her though.

It'd be worth a bet if we knew HHU's target although clearly it's a tried and tested path if other coral cup winners have come here, can see the logic definitely.

At level weights, you'd think it's probably a different story though

I've already got Concertista, SWIW, Gauolise, TMSG and Burning Victory covered. Has anyone heard of plans for Royal Kahala or Roseys Hollow yet as I would also like to cover these if they are staying hurdling?

If you cover Gauolise would you not want skyace covered too? They both need this distance now and the ebf showed they're closely matched at it, i would even go so far as to say the better the ground the further skyace would be better off in comparison to Gauloise. Ive got Skyace ahead of Gauloise atm.

Royal Kahala staying over hurdles (would personally prefer her to go chasing):-

Sorry, I don't think that second link is opening a Racing TV interview with Peter Fahey (on Twitter)

Thanks BN. You're right, I should also really cover Skyace. I never intended to make a book(never done one before) but could well end up doing one with this race as IMO, it looks to be one of the easiest races to do so.

Skyace set to make her seasonal reappearance at Fairyhouse on 2nd November.

Think she definitely warrants going on the shortlist and as others have said her form at Cheltenham reads well. I think the variety of possible targets is a factor though as she also runs regularly over fences and could feasibly go for numerous races at the festival.

Small team/trainer always means that she'd likely still be decent odds even if lining up in the Mares Hurdle come March... Black tears went off 11/1 after her Coral Cup win and she's with a far bigger stable.

….17-1 a/r with Hills price boost, only 6-1 with Sky. Seems reasonable given she’s a general 16-1 (best priced 20-1) for Mares Chase.

Heaven Help Us was one I backed early. I like her for the race. She may not win it but she'll be somewhere near at least. The course and distance form is impossible to ignore given it plays out time and time again at the Festival.

As a slight aside (and really one for another thread), I like the Mares Novice Hurdle route to the Coral Cup. It's worked well in the past, and I'll be keeping a close eye this year too.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I'd clocked the MNH to the Coral Cup too, Black Tears was the lead-me-to-it horse for that.

Its an easy switch from Mares Hurdle races with lightish ratings into the Coral Cup.

Just adding something on my Diary in the next half hour specifically on the Mares Hurdle, a new angle of looking at Festival form.

                              Mullins on concertista:
We’ll go novice chasing with her. She has the size to cope with fences well.

That makes Telmesomethinggirl favourite now then !
