  • Question is what does appreciate it do next year

Are they really gonna go novice chasing with a 9 year old

He had no hesitation sending Faugheen over fences at 11.
Bar him winning the CH, I’d say they’ll give him a go over a fence. He won’t be a CH player at 9 years old either in all likelyhood

I'd say it depends on his next two runs....

If he doesn't win a G1 over hurdles... (CH or at Punchestown) they'll probably go chasing!

        I'll be so torn then.

Point being, the fact no horse has ever done it, isn't relevant... what's relevant is Willie has to prepare him to beat Honeysuckle.... not Teahupoo.
I agree, I’m so close to hammering the 6/4 without Honeysuckle.

Hes way better imo than the 3 five year olds, the only doubt is the long break, but WPM has previous, all the word of him doing a really nice piece of work the other day helps the doubts of being out first time up.

            • Think the without Irish market will ever return? Only 5 runners left, so anyone with 3 places about anything is sitting fairly pretty.

I’m with you re Epatante. I think she’s been overlooked and there’s reports she looks a picture this year. Main concern for me is the form of Henderson.

                  • Epatante 6/4 best of the British with Sky. I know a few on here where keen on that last month.

Excellent spot, thats gone back out. Adagio is the only danger IMO and I highly doubt he'd beat her off levels, much less giving away 7lbs.

                      • Ladbrokes have boosted Appreciate It to 2/1 without Honeysuckle so I’ve went in with that, he’s the most likely to challenge Honey imo and the only issue is not running for exactly a year but the fact they kept him for the race and didn’t run him in Feb 90% fit will be beneficial imo.

Hes better than the 3 5 year olds and he’s better than Epatante.

                        • Despite the fact of an odds on favourite I think this is an intriguing renewal. The enigma of Appreciate it - can the maestro deliver a FTO winner? Could this be a Hoiles quiz question? If it were such a good idea then more would do it. But this is Willie Mullins. Honeysuckle always wins with a bit in hand and ticks every box including the one of winning races and being a straightforward ride. The only negatives I can see is that she has probably plateaued in form but at a very high level, and her sometimes less than fluent jumping - but it never seems to trouble her. I don't see Epatante improving much on last year though she did get a bit boxed in on the final bend. I thought Appreciate It was more impressive than Honeysuckle last year despite running green. There's likely to be greater improvement for him but how race fit will he be?

Teahupoo and Tommy's Oscar have been winning easily so there's no ceiling to their recent form. Neither have course experience and Teahupoo is a 5-y-o. Adagio (also a 5-y-o) has course experience and I think has improved more than Zanahiyr this year.

I think only Appreciate It can beat Honeysuckle on form. Tommy's Oscar and Adagio are good e/w value.

                          Value bet: Adagio e/w

                          • I'm worried about Henry's form
I'm worried about how fit AI will be. Yeah, its Mullins... he's amazing but there keeping a horse fresh because they come on for that and there's "we've had issues". Unplanned and a change of campaign always makes me wary.

Honey wins this. It'll be ugly, but she'll win. I may back her in-play if I'm up. If not, will just watch and cheer her on

Few on here were keen on her at shorter price than that from memory, and I was waiting for Adagio to drift out from 4/1. He's 15/8 now. Seems like that was somewhat misjudged

                                Yeah, 5/4 and evens.
                                Adagio was 3/1 then 7/2....
