  • Can’t have AI with that prep, though if there’s one man out there who can get him ready for a Champion Hurdle it’ll be Mullins…

      Shouldn't be surprised.

Be some training performance to go Supreme to Champion Hurdle!

Massive fan, but almost impossible to be anything near confident.... hopeful at best.

On everything we know, Honeysuckle's just better anyway.

      • Would this be Willie greatest achievement in terms of long term absence to beat the superstar, I think so and he has history with Quevega, Klassical Dream and Penhill I think in recent years at festivals.

        • Great Supreme winner or not, there's obviously been some issue which has never been fully explained. Suddenly he's had a problem which curtails his envisaged novice chase career, so then the plan is to revert to hurdling. That was around 5/6 weeks back. He gets added to the Champion Hurdle market and even is in the early entries for the DRF. That plan was curtailed, and the Red Mills was mooted for his return. While that still may be the case, there's now confirmation from the trainer himself that they could go straight to Cheltenham.

What next? He either isn't ready for Cheltenham or runs and fluffs his lines, leaving the trainer to tell us he probably needed to get a run in to him.

Doesn't feel me with much confidence. What do others reckon?

And just to put that into context the Arkle looks a weak renewal where Mullins will have the likely favourite who happens to be a horse Appreciate It was ten lengths clear of at the last in their Supreme when he came down...

            • Despite what Willie says are his plans right now, I'd be surprised if Appreciate It even makes the festival.

That would leave Willie with just Saint Roi entered

Agreed. He's odds on in the place markets. Wouldn't mind laying some of that antepost!

I don't think he'll turn up tbh... have taken the 6s Zanahiyr in the w/o Honeysuckle market with Hills as he won't be that price should AI not make it & is the improver in the field for me. Honeysuckle in multiples & left alone apart from that.

                  • I don’t think this has ever been done has it(winning a champion hurdle on your first start of the season!) massive honeysuckle fan but you’ll have to tip ye hat (Mullins style actually) if Willie pulls this off!

Place lay on the day is the way to play I think...

Shame. Was hoping to cover off the potential NR angle. Not sure I'll get the opportunity to place it on the day.

Betfair have a without Honeysuckle market, worth keeping an eye on that to see if any liquidity appears, that's your NR angle...

                          • Annie Power pretty much did it.
The prep run was a jog in the park.
@1/20 on against 2 130 rated horses. Can't have been much value in her running in that really.

                            • Although not the same but See you then won two champion hurdles with only two races in between in 3 years and 2 months.

                              • I don't even think he will turn up to the festival, Mullin's wasn't happy with going against Honey at the DRF first time up yet is going to do that at Cheltenham Could be wrong but we'll see..
