Her form did not really put her in this sort of class anyway.......did it?
Still if they thought she might improve to figure in this company, fair enough.
They know now i would think.
I've cashed what I can as that was not encouraging enough.
But I said in my diary that the tactics and ride she was given didn't help her give her best. Neither di the three runner race.
A keen horse given no sight of her hurdles and jumping into the arse of the others isn't going to help her relax.
I'd like to see Willie send her over for the xmas hurdle at kempton myself.
But she's in the bin for now.
25/1 massive overreaction for me - she was never likely to beat Honeysuckle, but at 25/1 I'm happy to trust in Willie. She jumped fast except the last three as far as I could see and there's nothing to say she hasn't been adversely affected by the gallops issues they've had, particularly given she drifted most of the day. She should be shorter than 25/1 for me but not by much.

I wouldn’t say a massive overreaction at all. She’s priced where she should be in the market imo. There was nothing to suggest she should have been second fav other than being trained by WPM who said they hoped she could turn into a contender here.

Yeah, fair point - I started to back track during the post above and I'll complete it now, it's not a massive overreaction (although it looks it when you compare it to the ridiculous prices that were on show before of around 10/1). I just don't think she's one to throw in the bin after one run in open company.
Don't see how that's a bubble burst, and I'm not talking out my pocket. She was keen the whole way, for some reason jockey jumped her into the arse of the others, 3 runner tactical race is far from ideal, and she was most likely not fully fit (sharjah aside, most of Willie's are needing the run)
If you've backed her it would be nice to have seen her saunter 20 lengths clear, but I wouldn't be cashing her until I've seen her in a proper race
The question needs to be asked ............what can possibly give Honeysuckle a race? Many will cry off, others will not just worry about one horse, whatever their history or weight allowance. Big training outfits can afford to put one or two up against her. At the moment, apart from Sharjah, it's not easy to see who. If it's not EIR, would Willie just rely on Sharjah, or perhaps SWIW?
More chapters and angles to come. Early days still. A lot can happen in 4 months.

Too early.... it was a the same this time last year before and after Epatante won the Fighting Fifth. I made that mistake, backed the reigning champ and was smiling nicely when she took the p*** in that race. That smile didnt last long #kempton
Honeysuckle is a great mare, and she is rightfully the favourite for this race. However, she had a hard season (quotes from jockey in her last race) and she doesnt run to her best first time out. So at the moment, it could pay to side with some of the Mullin's lot. I may back the likes of AI and Ferny for this race with cash out option the night before they go hurdling. Unlikely... but there's no point in backing Honeysuckle at her current price... and its a long season....
Was publicly said sharjah would come on for the run
Echoes in rain was just completely out of her depth
She won a very weak grade 1 novice beating an over the top blue lord and colonel mustard
Iv had a free bet on epatante at 14s (16s is available) she beat sharjah just as easily when she won it as honeysuckle did and wasn't at her best last year
Looking at the potential field shed have to lose the plot completely not to go off single figures
Not going to cash out yet !, I think EIR will get another chance to prove or otherwise that she's Champion Hurdle quality. A bigger field and a truer paced race may help. If not I may have missed the boat re cash out but willing to take that risk
I backed Echos in Rain with a non cashout firm, so sadly I can only hope she improves as the season goes on.
Adagio is the key to the weekends form, to carry top weight in that race and run a strong second makes a very strong case for monmiral, prior to the fighting fifth if Nichols goes there he's the horse to back.
I'm well involved with Echoes and thought she was shite, theres no two ways about it. I'll now spend the rest of the season building around Honeysuckle, the winner barring any unforeseen nonsense.
PP prices Sharjah 7-2 and Zanayhir 11-4 ???
I know he's had a run but FFS he gets no allowance, it's a 4yr old vs only an 8yr old mutiple grade 1 winning hirdler off levels.
And he's not even got a correct rating either. 152 is not worthy.
Could win of course, but it don't make a lot of sense.
Mare should not really be favourite either, but they do this every year and tend to over price the older horses.
maybe paddies know Sharjah is not fit enough.
agreed - Sharjah was a different class in this race
