….Mullins & Codd both suggesting Sir G is a future CH horse, the 20-1 currently available for next year will look decent if he gets his head in front this year.

As you say, Ballymore is the trodden route to the CH … might be a ‘today and the ‘23 CH’ if he goes Ballymore.

I am backing Appreciate It here and still not writing off the chance of Saint Roi. In making for Saint Roi, I believe he simply detests Leopardstown. He has raced there on four occasions [his last four runs in fact, all in Grade One's] and disappointed each time, never finishing better than third. His jumping was awful in each of those too, almost as if he had kissing spines or something physical bothering him. Imagine if you were to strip away Saint Roi's four Leopardstown runs, you would be left with a horse that has won two from three on undulating tracks [was sick at Clonmel on only defeat], including a romp here at this venue in the County hurdle. Furthermore he seemed to thrive on the fast gallop there and big field where he had plenty of cover. He was also a flying second in the Grade One Morgiana hurdle in an unsuitably slow run, small field event before those abortive Leopardstown runs. Horses that are like Saint Roi generally need eleven runners or more to generate enough cover and a ferocious gallop to be seen at their best. I hope eleven runners or more go to post. It is also interesting that Willie still holds him in high regard and is prepared to run. APPRECIATE IT annihilated the opposition in the Supreme here last year and has not raced since. It will be an astonishing performance if he manages to do it but he is trained by the greatest ever and it is possible. It is difficult to know how good he is but my speed figures suggest he is quicker than the mare. He jumped magnificently here last season but obviously this will be different. All of his form is on soft or heavy but there is reason to believe he may actually be better on good ground. He has a massive stride and his cadence suggests he has it over the mare in this aspect also. He will need everything in his favour as those not so clever handicappers have her rated five pounds superior to him whilst she will also have the seven pounds concession. That means Appreciate It is twelve pounds ''wrong'' with her and has to find that much. However, I think that Rachael Blackmore might be more interested in keeping Honeysuckle wide, as she has done before, and this time it may well catch her out. This is too strong a race to be doing that. If she does it then it may well prove her undoing. She may also decide to run much closer to the pace, in other words within a length or so of APPRECIATE IT and this may cause them both to go too fast. I have to go against Honeysuckle because of the price so I will tip APPRECIATE IT to win as I think he is a tremendous animal. He may well lead all the way or take it up at the top of the hill. I believe he did an extraordinary piece of work a few weeks ago. SAINT ROI should be half the price he is at present and could well be flying up the hill late on. He should relish conditions and please God he will have his jumping boots on

I think we'll see a reversal of form with Zanahiyr, which, for me, puts him right there as a place prospect. I'd much prefer him over a horse like Tommy's Oscar, who is shorter than him in the betting for beating some dross over here. At least Saint Roi has been contesting G1's against proper horses, and in fairness not running absolute howlers, with excuses.
I think, and I'm hoping, we'll see the best of Saint Roi come the festival.
