Hello Fat Jockeys,

I'd imagine they know he's not being entered anywhere this Christmas.

The longer he takes to come out over fences, the more likely they stick to hurdles for another year.
Especially if Willie's other novice chasers excel over Christmas.
I still would favour that he stays chasing though. But it's getting close.

Worse case scenario is he's properly injured and not something minor.

I don't think he'd beat Honeysuckle but he'd be a strong second favourite.

    • Given his age its almost now or never to go chasing

If they don't do it this season he'll be 9 going on 10 when he enters open company

Not sure Willie would worry too much about that.
        I would though.

        • Trainer Willie Mullins said: "Appreciate It will be out of training for a couple of weeks and because it would mean a late start to his chasing career in terms of this season, we’ve decided on a hurdling campaign when he is ready to return."

The seven-year-old enjoyed an unbeaten four-race campaign as a novice last season, culminating in a brilliant win in the Sky Bet Supreme at Cheltenham.

Thats great news for this race. Now we have some intrigue.

          • ….just had a feeling one of those expected to go Novice Chasing might revert to hurdling, hence my question on the last podcast. PP cutting AI for this a week ago was an indicator.

Fair play to those who got stuck in to some decent CH prices! I wasn't one of them and have suffered the loss of a few Arkle multis, but quite glad that numerous RAB's still live to fight another day, even if I think Honeysuckle very much has his number!

              • The bookies should now push out honeysuckles price a little but they definitely wont

                • Not had a bet in the race yet, but at least we have a bit more to talk about now.

                  • I wonder if Appreciate It will even make the festival. Got to think that if it’s a setback, and we’re less than 90 days away, then Punchestown surely becomes the main target for him? Mullins is covered with lots of options, and why run a half fit AI at the festival?

I won’t be backing him in the CH for the above reason, and also because even fully fit, I don’t think he anywhere near Honeysuckle with the mares allowance.

                    • Agree Mighty. Best to wait for that elusive declaration !

Totally agree, not sure if it was me reading too far inbetween the lines but what Willie said to sporting life

Doesn't fill me with confidence we will even see him this season

                        • I was toying with the idea of cashing out my arkle bets on appreciate it last night whist reading the forum but decided to leave it for a while, then the news broke today and cashout was gone !

                          • Hard luck Ice - I went through the same thought process, but I decided to cash out all I could, mainly because of how quick the bookies are this year to suspend cash out (think Buzz, which lost me a couple of points). I lost a couple of Sky RABs for AI, but got others back. We roll on!

In same boat. Bookies are on the ball this year.

They are certainly quick off the mark this year, i also had buzz backed for the stayers and didn't know he had been injured til my cashout disappeared so not a good few days for me !
