Can't see it myself - folk trying to look leftfield after the Irish Arkle.
    Surprised if she placed.

I agree. Every year there's a few horses that become fashionable during preview season and Magic Daze is one of this season's IMHO.

Difficult enough for five year old horses over hurdles

Asking an awful lot for novice chasers
Bristol De Mai & Frodon, to name a couple, went chasing as 4 year olds. So not always a bad thing to get an early start!

No idea why her form isn't remotely close to being good enough

Did I watch when Blue Lord beat RD giving here weight that she won’t be getting at Cheltenham? Yes. Yes I did.

            • The value merchants have latched onto Magic Daze, a horse being supported more in potential hope than recent top class form. Not for me either. No surprise that preview nights have highlighted it.

HDB absolutely LOVES her. She obviously hasn't shown on track what she shows at home. Found this, this morning, listen to the way his voice changes when she's mentioned (10:40)

I wouldn't be interested at 8/1 on what I've seen, but the small 50/1 tickets or 66/1 or 25/1 that people on here got at different times look to have ew possibilities

It’s 2lb difference. Hardly worth that difference - she would have won had she not walked through the last. Not saying she will win race, but 15/8 / 13/2 ..

I don't see it, not one bit. She's done nothing on a racecourse to date that makes her backable at double her current price. Beaten twice as a short priced fav and beaten Darren's Hope. Thats just rubbish. If I'm wrong and she runs with credit then I suppose the silver lining is its a boost to the Concertista form line but I'm barrel scraping here.

                    • I think the Magic Daze frenzy has been created by HDB updates.
But this is the guy sending JWM to the Ballymore…

When I see Duc Des Genievres and Put The Kettle On have won two of the last three Arkles, I think anything is possible. And before people give out about Put The Kettle On, before she ran in the Arkle, her best form was beating Al Dancer () and not even by that far. I'd have Magic Daze's defeat by Concertista as better form than that. Concertista would beat Al Dancer, IMO.

Magic Daze has only had three chase runs, and her form for her defeat by Noble Yeats has been held up fairly well, by the 2nd that day, Gabynako, who went and won next time out and then finished a close up 2nd in the G1 Drinmore Novices Chase. I wouldn't judge the form based on Noble Yeats, as he's been messed around all season, in order to get a favourable handicap mark.

She couldn't have done anything more on her second start, yes she only beat Darren's Hope, but it was by 25 lengths Her last run against Concertista, I'm not convinced she gave her true running. She was only 6 lengths ahead of Sayce Gold that day, and she had previously beat her a little over 26 lengths. Concertista then come out and only beat Darren's Hope by 6 lengths.

She also, obviously, has festival place form too, albeit on the different course.

I'm not saying she'll win the race, not at all, but I struggle to see how a case can't be made for her as an E/W bet.

                        • Pace will be on from the get-go she won't get an easy lead with Riviere and Sam in the field. Think they'll set it up nicely for those than can jump at speed and settle in behind. I'll be playing the Edwardstone x Blue Lord reverse f/c on the day. Not sure HeC can jump at speed yet.

The Value Merchants....holier than thou racing purists....you seem to make this quite judgey and personal.. surely folks can back a horse even one you don’t fancy or have a view on a race even one you like without being judged or labelled?

                            • Magic Daze wouldn't even be running had she run and clearly would have got beat in the Irish Arkle. Pure fantasy land. Edwardstone will go off evens for this. Riviere D'Etel will drift on day and probably win. Only future G1 horse out of novice company is HEC but he may not be experienced enough for this yet.

I wouldn't consider "value merchant" as unflattering. I'd consider myself one.
To me it means backing horses you don't necessarily think will win but get on board to trade back later.
Not saying everyone backing this horse is a "value merchant" far from it.
