Willie Mullins used the awesome word for Ferny Hollow performance over Christmas (refused to use the same adjective for GDC). Riviere D'etel was getting 13lb that day and beaten 1 1/2l. RD has lost 4lb of her age allowance since then, but Gordon is saying she is getting stronger by the day. Even if she isn't do people believe that Blue Lord is within 6l of Ferny Hollow potential?

That reminds me of the kind of Football headlines you get..... "Klopp refuses to rule out signing Mbappe"....
Tough to start a case based on what adjective Willie has used about his own horse affecting a horses chances in March isn't it?

fakir d'oudairies went close to winning Arkle, was a poor renewal in term of depth
this years renewal last depth again, I was against Riv D’etel but her experience and form line with Ferny makes my top pick, despite losing the weight allowance
im not keen on blue lord, and prefer to side with experience of ‘potential’ which I feel is limited with BL

What price do we reckon Blue Lord is for this at about 4pm today then?
I’ll go 11/8 fav. My mention in running of his chasing debut of being like Footpad jumping wise might be more realistic should he bolt up. I don’t think he’s a future champion chaser but I do think he’s a superb jumper and will win a likely below average Arkle.
The importance of jumping well in an Arkle cannot be underestimated and he’s in the top 3 novice chasers for his jumping this season imo. Other two would be GDC and Bravemansgame who are also superb at jumping the fences imo.

Sorry, not sure how to explain it better
I sill prefer BL and Edward tho personally
Any form that suggests she's as good as the 5yo boys is with an allowance. She's a mare.Last edited by jack1092; 5 February 2022, 10:11 AM.

I've backed him 3 places today and wouldn't be completely shocked if he goes close, my problem is that after a good run and the likely mention of a target in post race interviews his price will crash and he's not exactly value at the moment at 8/1 without NRNB and 5/1 with NRNB for the Arkle, and 14/1 without, 8/1 with for the Turners.
He's probably a horse I just have to accept I'll miss the price/value and have to get stuck into on the day...

Even rolling singles probably makes more sense than the Cheltenham Arkle bet.
