In fact Edwarstown seems the same in this very race. Very good handicapper over hurdles. Grade 1 winner over fences.
Ferny would have destroyed both in a bumper or hurdles race imo. In a chase I'm yet to be convinced.

He's also never won in the Spring which is another stat I always look out for re Festival horses.

Ferny has proven to be very adaptable, they won the Bumper with a switch of tactics to being held up and come through horses. Then beat Bob O with a front running performance, so I won't be too concerned wherever he lined up come March.
Edwardstone is proving himself to be the best of the English but given Ferny has proven himself to be on par with the elite novices of last year is anybody really seeing enough to suggest the gulf in class is being bridged? He's beating the same horses over and over, when weight is evened out there are some improvements but nothing to suggest the 10-15 lengths required by almost all English horses has been found

He a worthy second fav but il stick with ferny. I don’t like Alan King at all cause he’s always a rude prick, so that’s influencing my thoughts on this too!
Each to their own.
Horse has done nowt wrong and been very impressive in both his races.
You prefer FH, I doubt you are alone, I think he’s the most likely winner right now, but visually I don’t see a big gulf.

To be honest if I had backed or were thinking of backing Edwardstone, I would not be put off by any of last years form/ratings.
I would concentrate on what I personally deem to be most important….. the horses ability to jump and travel in a 2m novice chase.
Once I am happy with what I see, I will then act accordingly as to the prices available.
Then find out in March whether he’s actually good enough to beat what lines up.
