Aye, it was a better performance but I wouldn't have him any shorter than he is and it wasn't exactly something I watched and thought he's unbeatable. Still think they'll be better jumpers in the field, which might give him a problem with that run style, assuming they can live with it.
Hope it's not put them off sending Blue Lord anyway.
Don't agree personally ferny hollow goes off that fast in the arkle really cant see him getting up the hill
Would set the race up perfectly for something like edwardstone
He did jump better albeit slightly to the right
hes a short one I'm happy to take on
Why would connections deploy the tactics used yesterday at Cheltenham? Sitting off a competent rival that likes to front run whilst giving away chunks of weight would have been the wrong way to approach the race tactically IMO, no reason to think they'd want to replicate that at Cheltenham is there? Ferny came from off the pace in the bumper having previously raced keenly and it worked a treat. He raced off the pace on debut and picked up well to win. I think he's perfectly happy racing in behind a strong pace which you'd assume would be set up perfectly by a Third Time Lucki type. Yesterdays tactics looked like anl exercise to see if he can jump fences at a proper speed, the way and Arkle horse should. He wasn't just better than his debut, he winged fences at speed and passed with flying colours.

Agree Charlie. Mighty impressed with FH yesterday giving lumps of weight to a very good horse. I wouldn't think he's bothered about Blue Lord.

I'd like to see Blue Lord run again in a deeper race before writing him off. He's always looked good to very good, but thats it. Ferny looks like he has bundles of class and given Willie has sent 2 runners to the Arkle once in 20 years, you'd assume, barring Blue Lord putting up an exceptional performance NTO, that BL will head elsewhere.

I really hope BL convinces them if he ain’t already.
More good ones in the Arkle the better imo.

Blue Lord is a good horse, I'd love to own him, but he's always found proper animals too good. Bob Olinger, Appreciate It, even Echoes In Rain. He's good, but he's not in the same bracket as Ferny IMO, who has obviously lowered the colours of some of the horses I mention. Ferny also looks a slicker faster jumper with a much higher cruising speed, and I'd be confident, given the analysis on how many Willie historically send to the Marsh (normally 2 or 3 runners) that this is where Blue Lord will end up, and not here. BL backers could of course get lucky and Ferny could get injured, in which case he might come into this.

Well if they are adamant that FH is a lot better than BL then I can see that happening yes. But we don’t know that.
Ever since BL got beaten well by Bob O, he’s run over 2 miles.
His one chase over 2m he jumped as good as any nov chaser over 2 m this season imo.
A lot of horses improve for fences, BL looks to be one of them.
As per usual this will run and run up to March I imagine.

I'm not sure they were tactics
He seemed to get lit up and was going much faster than Paul wanted
Haut en couleurs 8 seconds slower than Ferny yesterday carrying 6lbs less
Confirms what a good performance Ferny put up yesterday
True slightly in a way but Riviere D and Ferny went hard at it from the get go whereas today's race was a procession of a gallop. Not a fan of comparing times on different days let alone in two completely different run races.

I accept it can be misleading
haut en couleurs still a work in progress but still a young horse
Real potential there going forward
"I think Haut En Couleurs looks like Arkle material and maybe Gentleman De Mee as well. He's a natural jumper and I hope they all come out of here okay as that ground is dry enough. @PTownend
thought it was anyway on that fella." @WillieMullinsNH
on 1/3 fav Haut En Couleurs
