Aye, when I say not completely given up it's like screwed up on the side waiting to go in the bin. It'd take a real set of circumstances to get him there wouldn't it. Could've done with him not winning first time out.
I guess if Appreciate It and Blue Lord looked the top two in the Arkle and Ferny Hollow doesn't jump too well against Riviere that's the hope... Without a Honeysuckle injury. And even then it'd be a slim hope.
Honeysuckle injury and Bob Olinger is my Champion Hurdle bet. That's where he'd be if he was mine
Yeh, FH's novice Chase win makes it unlikely now, imo. AI will be 8 next year so you'd imagine it's fences now or never too.
Don't throw those slips away just yet, stranger things have happened!
Doubt he'd go back over hurdles now he's won over fences wasting his novice season though?
It does happen Rock on Ruby is one that springs to mind ...just missing out on the aintree hurdle straight after the arkle....never to see a fence again
He only diverted when Faugheen and Annie Power were announced to be injured though. I think that's right anyway.
And he had Altior.
A few things need to click for them to revert.
But this season it might not take too much.
Even Henderson's novice hurdlers would look at it if anything happened to Honeysuckle.
Without her it's up for grabs.

Agreed. Honeysuckle aside, they are an absolute rabble.
I know it's all about winning for most but I'm going to say it anyway... 2nd in the Champion Hurdle prize money is more or less the same as 1st in the Arkle.
And we all agree 2nd in the CH is more than up for grabs, while the Arkle has the potential to be quite competitive imo
I would say all the chat about AI is a lot of fuss about likely nothing ; the ground at Lep at the moment is a big worry for trainers ever with the watering. A big horse like AI they will want the ground right first time out over fences and on the back of a lay off.
Willie & owners said plan is a chase over Xmas, whether the ground delays that or not we'll see but no need to be worried at this stage over one missed chase entry.
Kilcruit, Appreciate It, Power Of Pause, and Champ Kiely all expensive recruits in the last couple of seasons Benjy. Carefully Selected before that I think.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Are they not the same owners that had horses trained in England ?
Neon Wolf springs to mind
Albeit in different colours
They won the County in 2008 with Silver Jaro

The owners in contention for both races won't be concerned about prizemoney Benji. It's all about winning, so it won't be a consideration.
What would you do Spectre if Jeff could easily pick up 2nd or 3rd in The Champion Hurdle or contest a hot looking Arkle with no guarantees of any prize money? Assume 8-10 runners in each race.
