      On what basis ?
Edwardstone was a superior hurdler, are you saying TTL has been so impressive over fences he’s made up a 5-7lb inferiority ?

Absolutely yes. Much improved over fences.

Harry Fry has already said Boothill unlikely to run unless ground significantly changes. Would have thought the same for Nicky's and as mentioned on another thread will be potentially lots holding off for their first runs - ground at most courses is still unseasonably good.

Any solid reasoning given as to why he thinks ferny will go here instead of appreciate it?

Believe he mentioned that ferny was the supreme horse of the two before his injury

Ferny has looked a speedy type almost every run hes had

I very much had him down as an arkle/champion hurdle horse then willies stable tour comes out and he mentions the marsh

                    • I just can’t see Willie sending both AI and Ferny Hollow to the Arkle. He’s only ever sent one here previously and if both run well over the course of the season, surely they’re split? And Willie has banged on and in about the Arkle for AI. Less so the Marsh for Ferny, but the comment re Stamina …

You could say that every year though, but still I cant remember a year where mullins two best novice chasers faced off against each other? And theres a good chance that these two will turn out to be his best.

And I dont see why cps would be so keen on coming here instead of the marsh? Either way you might have to face a very good horse in appreciate it or bob o so i'd say they would just leave it to mullins, and from what I hear cps may not take a huge interest in which races their horses contest, especially when it comes to novice chases.

It might turn out that way but i'd have doubts.

Even if ferny was seen as the supreme horse last season, things change and appreciate it was very good at 2m, so since he has proven himself more than ferny at this stage I would think ferny would be the one accomodating appreciate it, and not the other way around.

imo appreciate it will be given the chance to keep winning at 2m and prove he is there arkle horse, but if he gets beat then him and ferny could swap targets.

                          • This might be overly simple, but I imagine Willie will know which is the better 2m chaser come March in his yard - and that one will go for the arkle.
BobO’s debut over fences will not be dissuading Willie from targeting the marsh with whichever of the two bypasses the Arkle.

                            • Can see Gavin has thrown flames on a fire already burning

Ferny is a highly speculative bet but not terrible, AI is a highly sensible bet but not juicy, thats how I'd sum up the state of affairs on the two, in a sentence.

                              • Given he has pretty much any horse to pick from, I think Gavin has made a really poor selection putting Ferny Hollow up.

Essentially he's put a horse up that hasn't seen a racecourse for 12 months, that needs to prove he retains his ability, hasn't jumped a fence under rules, and with an unclear target.

I've got a lot of time for him, and he's one of the better pundits out there, but he's badly missed the mark with this selection. Put simply, as a recommended bet at this stage of the season, it's truly awful.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.
