Could well be he proves just shy of graded class & he'll be in one of the handicaps as you & ComplyOrDie have stated... assumed as Skelton was running him in that Warwick race today he perhaps sees him as higher class, might try get a win today & any race quote then too...

Both of those were highly thought of & aimed here. He's lower on ratings than those were at this stage (OR 138 vs 146 for Allmankind) & indeed would have a mountain to climb versus Appreciate It/Ferny etc. it seems... however I'd like to try get a live outsider in a race that coudl cut up numbers wise so have: 1. Asked Sky for a price win today & Arkle 2. Asked 365 to add to Arkle market. Anyone got any thoughts? Happy to be told to pipe down...
I think it's a really interesting novice chase. They should go a decent pace with For Pleasure being in there (as long as they don't let him get a soft lead). Its a watching brief today but if anything wins this we'll today could be a player for the Arkle. Personally I agree with others that King Roland wants further and I expect it to be between Edwardstone and Do Your Job today.

      • Buddy Rich seems to have run to a similar level again which, means Ballyadam is shitter over fences than a hurdle and probably overrated in that genre also.
But also that Cape Gentleman and Third Time Lucky are decent enough.

They may as well start running ballyadam on the flat

Try to win a big valuable handicap with him or something

                • Magic Daze drops down to 2 miles in Mares Beginners chase on Sunday.

                  • All the clues are there which way round they're thinking with Magic Daze and Gin On Lime Lobos.

Yes, that's obvious to all, especially me now

That's my thoughts. I'm becoming less optimistic of GOL in the Arkle, moreover with the entries made so far but I keep telling myself GOL is going to surprise a few and give Henry something to think about. I'll probably still act surprised when it inevitably doesn't happen

The thing for me is Put The Kettle On ran in the Arkle trial in her novice chase year at Cheltenham’s November meeting, having already ran over further than 2m. Gin On Lime is not being aimed at that same race. She was soundly beaten over 2m on her second chase, she may have improved, but that improvement has come with the mid trips imo.

The doubt about Magic Daze being good enough could be that he’s not brought her over as he did with PTKO but we have evidence she handles the track where we didn’t with PTKO so he’s giving her what looks an easier assignment over 2m to get a win under the belt.

We shall definitely know the fate of our Arkle tickets tomorrow. She will put it up to Drogo and will test him but I think she will be headed just before the last and MD will go away to win by 5/6 lengths. If that happens then she'll go Mares Chase and her price will shorten.
However, if she looks beaten/tired between the 2nd last and the final fence then I'll retrieve my Arkle slips from the bin because she'll not be troubling Elimay on that basis and Henry will reroute her to Super Tuesday. Sorted

                              • As an aside, in case anyone missed it, this is the quote I'm specifically alluding to regarding Magic Daze. The words 'poetry in motion' and 'disappointed' caught my eye - I still think they think a lot of her and that she won't stay the 2.5m. Whether she proves to have the necessary quality on course is a completely different matter as I think we all agree.

                                Magic Daze
                                5m Doyen - Magic Maze
                                Robcour
                                312-43
                                RPR 137h 127c OR 135h
She ran fine at Galway but I was a bit disappointed with her if I'm being completely honest. For three-quarters of the race it was poetry in motion, so maybe she just didn't fully see out the extended two miles two furlongs. We'll drop her back to two miles next time and I still think she'll develop into a lovely chaser.
