Ah right. His jumping has always let him down tbf. Maybe I don't agree with you Lobos.

    • All you can hope is Ballyadam is thinking in his stable tonight 'i am not doing that again, it hurt' and be a lot better next time. I know he had jumped a few more fences in public but Indo fell last year and then bounced back with a very good jumping round in March. Hopefully he comes back in a few weeks and gets round and some confidence back.

      • this arkle market is crazy isn't it. looking at the prices I reckon on 2/3 of those in top 10 will likely have it as their first choice

        Appreciate It - likely
        my drogo - not likely
        bob - prob not
        ferny- possibly
        quilixious- hurdling
        monmiral - hurdling
dusart - poss more 2 1/2 but who knows
        ballyadam - possibly
        goshen - hurdling
        honeysuckle - hurdling
        aspire tower - hurdling
        Sir g - hurdling
        blue lord - possibly

which takes you down to James du berlais and 25s

this could be a very weak arkle field

James du Berlais and Haut en Colouers are two of his I like, HEC likely to need further but if he has a handful for the Marsh and beyond he may well train him with this race in mind…

Appreciate it or ferny hollow are his most likely Arkle winner but he could run a few in all novice chases this season. I like JDB too and will keep an eye on HEC entries. He could run any of those in either the Arkle or marsh it will be interesting to see how the pecking order forms over the coming months!

              • Third Time Lucki has an entry at Wetherby tomorrow in a 2 mile novice chase, seen people mention him here before and potentially the grand annual too

I did read a few times they think he is better going right handed and prefer a flatter track. He ran twice at Cheltenham last year and pretty well. I have been hovering over the TWAR price but not convinced he will turn up at next years festival but instead wait for Aintree

                    • I was gutted with Ballyadam today, I waited all morning for the race, put my paint brushes down, made a cup of tea and sat back and I couldn’t see him 30 seconds into the race!!
I had backed him for the Arkle and TWAR so hoping there is still a bit of life in the TWAR. There is still a little hope that he could be an Arkle horse if he musters up something impressive next time out or he could be this seasons Felix Desjay, a horse you hope will be a great ante post price but as the season progresses you realise is just a cheap mountain bike

                      • I did back Cape Gentleman just before the off today at 50/1 for the Arkle. He did ok considering he didn’t have much company for most of the race. I was thinking throughout that maybe connections would hope Ballyadam would dominate and win easy and they could sit back in his slip stream for some jumping experience and the start of a Shunter styled handicap plot. That plan all ended very quickly.

I couldn’t find him but in any other novice chase markets apart from the Arkle nor in the TWAR markets so I may get him added in a few weeks to the TWAR market in the hope the bookies have forgot about him. Cape Gentleman never bothered went to the festival last year so may not go again this year so I’m in no rush to part with any more money respectable TWAR price

yeah I thought that but Nicholls said this week he was being aimed at fighting fifth so looks like hurdles this year

I wish Nicholls would just make his mind up, doesn’t he know we are busy punters who want to get all our horses backed before March!!

Like yourself I’ve heard conflicting reports that connections were going to try him over hurdles first and if he didn’t really impress they’d start him novice chasing instead. I think there were very similar vibes about McFabulous last season, he’ll start over hurdles with a plan to go novice chasing then he won a decent race and stayed over hurdles with constant talk about going novice chasing next season!! We’ll see but the British need at least 3 half decent candidates. I’m hoping the 3 M’s….Monmiral, Mister Coffey and Metier are as good as I hope they will be and create some competition and value in this race as it looks a betting grave yard at present I agree

                              • One of the recent greats fell on his chase debut and went on to win the Arkle. Now, obviously that doesn't mean Ballyadam is going to replicate this, but it does mean, provided said horse comes away with no long term injuries from the fall that they should probably not be given up on, even more so in Ballyadams case where it was his first fence in public he fell at.
