Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Dan Skelton ATR update on Third Time Lucki. Bit of encouragement for those still holding e/w slips (like me...)

    Comment

    • Skelton's certainly right about early season form and how it can get overlooked. Nice to hear a bit of a positive about a horse's destination as well. Some of the relatively younger trainers like Skelton and Elliott seem more upfront and honest on this issue than some of their older counterparts.

Couldn't agree more. His two wins there this season were very impressive/easy. Not sure he'll beat a firing FH but I do fancy him to turn the form around with Edwardstone as that ones Cheltenham form doesn't make great reading albeit over Hurdles. Marmite track is Cheltenham !!

I've been critical of those two wins and can't see any reason to change my view.
To me he was tying up at the Paddy Power meeting and Captain Tom Cat may well have given him a fright had he not crumpled on landing over the last, leaving Sebastapol to stay on for second who has since fallen and pulled up in average handicaps.
His first win was impressive but made so much easier by his only credible opponent veering wildly right down the back straight.
For anyone holding each way vouchers at nice prices they're fine as the race will probably cut up and could only be a handfull of runners, but I can't see any reason why he finishes in front of Ferny Hollow or Edwardstone...

Agree. It's that time of year though isn't it. Horse with early season form goes very well backed. The form then turns out to be questionable and/or they flop. We largely forget they exist as a credible contender. Trainer then gives a positive media rousing update on said horse's chances a few months later. Suddenly, those clutching slips from earlier in the year start to believe he's a player again. And round and round we go. I genuinely don't think he is, but, he's a C&D winner and that can be half the battle won around Cheltenham, so perhaps he can a place which is basically what the OP is saying.

Or the winner of the race either...

              • I think TTL looked more impressive than he was due to his exuberant jumps. Got put in a proper race and folded. He's just a very weak finisher to me and was the same as a novice hurdler.

I think the general consensus will be yes, but I don't think so as Willie likes to separate his best horses and BL has probably done enough to be considered in that bracket.

Interesting I was of the same view as you that he would keep them separate but I see abit of support in the market from paddy power who have now cut him down to 15/8 from 9/4 last week

If Chacun is still not ready I wonder would he run FH in the big race leaving a clear path for BL in the (Irish) Arkle?

I'd say there is next to no chance of that happening

                            Would you actually?

The race looks absolutely abysmal, you can take out Energumene and Allaho, and if you take out Chacun as well, you've got Greaneteen, who is no guarantee to turn up, and then we are down to Captain Guinness & Dunvegan If Chacun doesn't turn up (or even if he does for that matter) it is going to be a seriously bad G1.

                            • Reckon they might meet with a view to splitting them at Cheltenham... Everybody seems to like the Mullins only runs one good one in the Supreme angle but not so much for the Arkle, even though the stats are similar.

Myself included but that's just because Blue Lord not going to the Arkle at Cheltenham would be pretty bad for me...

I would usually, but it wouldnt be his usual MO to enter them (despite his notoriety for block entries) in the non-novice races, it surprised me when I saw it, so maybe theres a bit of substance to ti?
