  • I noticed Aspire Tower is priced up by everyone for this, has there been any further comment by HDB since his 'we stay hurdling' statement ?

    • Only that he's starting out a bit later. I think because of something minor. No change to the plan to aim at the Champion Hurdle.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

        • No Appreciate It or Ferny Hollow for the Saturday race. Still entered up for Sunday so hopefully one will be declared then.

Hopefully. At lease the ground at Cork and Punchestown is Yielding to Soft, instead of the Good to Yielding at Navan

I get the feeling Appreciate It will make his debut in the G1 Novice Chase over Christmas now

Would be a surprising chase introduction if he does head straight for a G1, usually a hack round Clommel or Listowel at 1/8 against pigs is the starting point but if Mullins is happy sending him straight to a top grade event against horses with chasing experience it tells us plenty…

                  • So what happens now if Ferny puts in a spectacular display this weekend, will he go for the 2m grade 1 at Christmas :/

I think he's run out of opportunities now. He and Ferny were both entered in the G3 Novice at Navan tomorrow and were pulled out due to the ground, so Willie is already considering that type of route.

There aren't loads of novice chases over 2m that he can start off in now for a while so I can see him starting off there.

Also I think Willie knows he is one of the best out there in the division based on being the best Novice Hurdler last season and so far we haven't seen much over 2m in the novice chase division other than the 2 mares who AI would walk all over

                      • I know all the hype will be about FH but I'm really looking forward to Gentleman De Mee think he will really improve for a fence and I'm taking the fact he's entered up with Ferny as a good sign he's seen as one of his better novice chasers.

                        • What was the problem that saw Appreciate It miss Punchestown? I never read much more about it.

                          • Magic Daze, Concertista and Riviere D'Etel all declared for the Grade 3 Mares Novice Chase at Cork on Sunday. Riviere also engaged tomorrow at Navan and that appears to be the preferred entry, but could easily be a shake up in each horse's for this and the Mares Chase by the end of the weekend...

Can see what might happen here, Riviere goes to the Navan race as suggested above, Magic Daze goes out in front, puts Concertistas jumping under serious pressure, Magic Daze bolts up, shortens for the Arkle, Concertista may have one more go over fences or re-routed back to Mares Hurdle

                              • For me I'd like MD and RD in the Arkle, Concertista in the Mares Hurdle and as little genuine competition as possible for Elimay in the Mares Chase!

That's where I've backed them at least with the exception of Riviere. She's a little short for me at the moment, difficult to know how she'd fayre without the allowances. I've no doubt she's excellent though and capable of being competitive wherever she goes....
