  • Magic Daze declared for Cork on Sunday.

She'll need to be winning that head in chest to be an Arkle contender, IMO.

    • thought third time lucki impressed with jumping...looks a natural over fences. I think question over whether he has the quality to beat something like AI. for now he's an ew shot rather than likely winner

Jumping was very slick & travelled well throughout, idled slightly in front up hill. Can get 12s boosted with Betfair which seems fair for an e/w bet, considering a couple in front of him in market might not turn up here either. Thought it was a solid performance albeit not beating top quality opposition.

Jumping was excellent, but I agree. Having missed the bigger prices, the 14/1 didn't bother me as I don't see him beating whoever turns up from Ireland. That said, all those with 25/1+ have got a magic ew bet and good luck to you all

          • He does jump very well. Unless he learns to settle though I'm not even sure he would place. I don't think there's much left in the tank myself - there wouldn't have been much between him and Captain Tom Cat imo

….8-1 win, still 5/2 in Sky Arkle place market.

              • TTL likely to be best from UK…. But as we know , that’s unlikely to be enough to win.

However, that’s also what we thought about Chantry House last year

                • If you're building a book, I can see why you'd have added him pre-race. I do think 8/1 is an awful price for a horse I think would've beaten Captain Tom Cat by 2-3 lengths. Does anyone think CTC will be beaten less than 15 lengths in an Arkle?

Little harsh I think, agree the price isnt great but anyone who took 16s and above in what is likely to be a 5/6/7 runner field then theyve got the EW value. He is likely to be the best of the british and who really turns up from Ireland?

                    Mister coffey maybe?
Riviere D'etal but her age allowance will disappear before then

This really isn't going to be a deep field and it only takes an injury or 2 and the market may look completely different. At least TTL's target is nailed on and we know he's a smashing jumper of a fence.

I feel today he already won the race coming down the hill, Harry being super cautious at the 2nd last and he's idled on the run-in. He's a fair way clear of those in behind today.

                    • Important to note RE: Third Time Lucki that Dan Skelton was convinced he was less fit today than last month - not sure how that works tbh but he was adamant. He also said the owner 'isn't set on the Arkle', so 'Aintree's a possibility for him', but spring is most important. 'We'll work back from the Arkle and he goes well fresh'. Sounds like he was thinking out loud rather than giving anything away but TTL did run as if he got tired/idled rather than the others coming back to him because he wasn't good enough (for me anyway)

I agree he'd won the race, but at the same time, I'm not sure he can run any other way due to his inability to settle? I agree 16/1 is ok (8/1 is terrible imo) but even then imo there's going to be at least one Irish horse who will be sent over who will be better (there could be more, who knows where Ferny Hollow, Saint Roi etc will go) so imo you're just playing for a place. I just don't like the idea of a bet this far out on a horse where the win chance is minimal, the value just disappears betting on him each way.

Had them beat and blew them away before he got disinterested up the hill. He is a serious horse. Unbelievable at his fences as well. What more do we want from a Arkle horse ???? Beats me.

My thoughts exactly.. If there are any blemishes whatsoever in any of his rivals fencing in March then he's certainly going to be making things alot closer between them as he is foot perfect. My only worry would be the nutter on top. Hope something can take him down the hill otherwise he might have a rush of blood and kick on way too far out.

Regarding his price, the bookies are just playing it safe as he is highly likely to be the English no.1 and are trying to minimize the EW value. Can't really blame them as I doubt there will be 3 ahead of him in March.

Well one thing more, would be an owner committed to coming back here in March for a start. Really hope Skelton isn't turning into Nicholls and starting to avoid the Festival. He said similar back a couple of months ago about My Drogo not being certain for the Festival. Fingers cross that Skelton comes back in March with the best he has to offer.
