  • September FJ Yankee

Last one before we’ve got some proper racing to use as ‘evidence’ for these.

So this will be the final one with a theme to it. Not specifically sure what theme we should go for so let’s spend this first week deciding what we want to go for.

Jack mentioned on the last yankee about the idea of a ‘from the front yankee’ of horses who won list year from the front but the issue with that is that we’re quite limited in options there.

In trainer yankees, we’ve had Elliott/HDB and Mullins as two already. Don’t really like the idea of an English horse yankee as frankly four English winners itself is no certainty these days.

So what other ideas do we think would work?

Long shot Yankee? Minimum odds of say 25/1 for each leg?

I like the idea of a stayers yankee. Only targeting races at 2m4f and above?

I think it would be a bit mad not to do a robcour yankee with the info we have been spoon fed.
Although saying that it could all be completely wrong

You can call me Jack if you like

Two standout from the front bets are Allaho @ 9/2 in the Ryanair and Flooring Porter @ 12/1 in the stayers. For Yankee purposes these horses are ideal. Clear targets and ludicrously, you can call the race tactics even now. Both were very impressive at Cheltenham and given their ages, they could be even better horses next year. Two big ticks.

I agree MOM that we are then more limited, so I'd open this up to others.....

I like the Robcour yankee or a 16/1 or more yankee, whilst there's all sorts of stingey stuff at the front of various markets, there are plenty of great pokes around at that sort of price.

I like the idea of an owners yankee. Robcour is good, Giggi is better.
There's a few to choose from
                      abacadabras
                      run wild fred
                      scarlet and dove
                      fury road
                      balco des flos
                      farouk d'alene
All would be decent double figure prices
                      Just a thought
I often do a JP trixie or yankee at the festival, and of recent years it's not been too shabby

Don't like the owner idea for a yankee. Ok for cross doubles or trixie but the choice is so limited, even with Giggi.

Rather go with horses not trained by WPM/HdB/GE.

What about a UK based one? I know we all expect the Irish to dominate again but surely we can find 4 UK horses with a chance and at a decent price?

Given their collective firepower and statistical dominance in recent festivals, opting for horses not trained by the above 3 in the current open markets seems an oddly risky line to take.

BO has too many options IMO to be inc in anything more than a double.
