  • The Mares races

Wasn't sure where to post so thought I would start a new topic which we could use for the mares races at Cheltenham. The reason I am doing so is I have been scouring the 5 day entries and I noticed that Henry de Bromhead has entered Mares Novices 2020 second placed horse Magic Daze in a 2 mile chase at Galway on Monday 6th. I'm not sure she's up to beating Elimay but it's worth keeping in mind that this could be one of his bullets to fire at the Mares Chase along with Gin on Lime potentially.

Scarlet and Dove would be the one for me at the prices in the Mares Chase. Closely matched with Mount Ida on there first 2 novice chases then looked like giving Colreevy a race but for falling 2 out. Won a couple of chases after then got pipped on the line in a Mares handicap chase last time. While Elimay is the standout there's plenty behind her in the betting that I don't expect to run and I think 20-1 for Scarlet and Dove represents a bit of value.

I was watching the replay of the MNH this morning and Henrys comments afterwards, he was very jubilant over Magics run, almost as much as tellmesomethinggirll.. He mentioned going chasing with her straight post race, seemed very keen, think henrys wife bought the mare. He also mentioned tellmesomething would see a fence one day too.. 20s is skinny though.

Just posted on general chat, apologies I hadn't seen this! Entered in a flat race over 1m 4f. Doubt that fits many trends?!

Willie Mullins might want to get her out for a run post injury.

I say 20's with c/o is value when you take into account at least 4/5 above her in the betting look certain to head elsewhere. She too of course could end up in a different race but 20's for me is a great price. If she were to target the Mares Chase she'd be way shorter based on her very good 2nd in the Novice Mares where she kept on really well once headed.

Magic Daze 5/2 tomorrow looks big to me getting the allowances. I'd be disappointed if she couldn't win.

I was expecting a little bit more juice in the price than 5/2. Was expecting around 4/1. I'll be watching with interest though

4's !!! Wow, that's mega optimism. If you think she'll be 4's in this poor race then she's not good enough for the Arkle or Mares Chase. I think with the 7lbs allowance she'll go off favourite on the day.

My thoughts were about chasing for the first time and when Willie Mullins has one in the race it can usually add a bit onto the others in the field.

The forecast odds were actually 5/1 which again I thought would be unlikely.

Far too short given what she’s beaten
