I agree. If I had a top horse and wanted my horse to arrive at the festival in the best shape possible even if it meant taking abuse from every man woman and dog on the way then I’d put it with hendo over any British trainer. If I wanted to pick up good prize money before or after the festival I wouldn’t. Nothing has massively changed it has always been this way and I suspect always will till he calls it a day.

I agree, I'd choose Hendo or Dan.

      • Henderson won’t shirk a challenge when it comes to festival week. But his whole year is geared towards it. And at least over the last few years has no issue bypassing a race, no matter what it is in the lead up.

If I owned a horse and ALL I wanted was a Cheltenham winner. There’s still few better.

Dan intuitively right coz he hasn’t actually done it yet.unless you count his plots ..the entire family is Uber talented I mean the breeding is impeccable so only a matter of time I feel. I have a feeling this chap will become a future Cheltenham legend...

            Me too, Rooster.

Like the fact he runs them at Cheltenham all season along the way too.

Yeah clever that. Clearly understands the importance of course form for the fez. I could see him getting 3+ winners this year.

It may not be this year but he will definitely have 3+ winners sometime soon

I think he has a great chance in the Mares Novice and Triumph (he has the two horses I think will win those races at this point in the season), and a punchers chance in the Marsh, Arkle and Champion Chase.

He also knows how to plot them so he’ll have a shot at at least a couple of Handicaps. Most likely being Langer Dan.

I’m not saying he will win 3; I’m saying I can see it.

Agreed. He is getting together a fantastic team.

If he won the Imperial Cup he'd be in danger of pricing himself out of the Martin Pipe I'd assume ? Not that they'd worry picking up one massive prize.

I don’t understand that comment. The Imperial Cup is after the weights have been announced. That said, I believe any winner of the Imperial Cup competing in a Festival handicap would have to carry a penalty albeit they would be well-in on the handicap but that wouldn’t affect the rating, just the weight. What does that have to do with price?

                              5lb penalty.

                              Langar Dan is 140.

Would need a prep run (Dan quoted this) then Imperial Cup, then Pipe.

Would need to keep his 140 mark after his prep run to be on for the Imperial-Pipe double off top-weight 145.

The BHA haven’t produced a Jumps Pattern with race conditions since 2019-20 so I don’t know if it’s possible to run in the Pipe with a 5lb penalty taking you above 145.

I assumed the penalty was independent of the handicap mark. That’s poor from the BHA if that’s not made clear. Thanks Saxon. I will see what I can find out.
