Hello Fat Jockeys,

Reading Mullins' comments here - suddenly Galopin Des Champs for Martin Pipe seems so obvious (it was first time he was stepped up in trip, after running at 100/1 at Leopardstown the time before to get a mark.. how many Mullins horses ever go off 100/1 in a Graded race?!)

The really interesting thing that caught my eye was how excited he appeared to be about Unexcepted. Can't help but wonder if he could prove part of the Mullins Champion Chase picture or (probably more likely as things stand) if he gets messed around for a season before suddenly finding his form again in the Grand Annual? Problem with the Grand Annual thought is how non-existent Mullins' record is in the race (thank you Lord Saxon!). Anyone any thoughts on this?

So I technically cheated - I went to see the band Battles play the Panorama bar there and then when they didn't tell us to leave, I just hung around

                  Trainer Quotes

Harry Fry in the Racing Post

Metier was the Dorset stable's flagbearer during the last campaign and is to remain over hurdles this season.

                  Fry said of the five-year-old:
"He was very good in his first season over hurdles but Cheltenham didn't go to plan. He's fully recovered thankfully and we'll have a second season over hurdles and we'll see how far he can climb the ladder.
                  "
"Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Excerpt from Gordon Elliott interview with RP, I guess I'm adding it here as the first bit shows how highly thought of Envoi Allen still is.

Hopefully we'll get to see his true form this coming season.
"When Envoi Allen was here, there wasn't a night I didn't lie in bed thinking about him. And now that he's gone, there still isn't a night I don't lie in bed thinking about him, but I have never had a cross word with any of the owners who left. I still speak to them all and the gate is always open. I understand completely why they had to go.

"Having said that, I still have a brilliant bunch of owners here who have stuck by me and want to support me and want to see me get back to where I was."

If Elliott's summer store acquisitions are anything to go by, many of those owners are in it for the long haul. At Goffs' Land Rover Sale, a raft of the most expensive lots were knocked down to patrons like Noel and Valerie Moran's Bective Stud and Andrew and Gemma Brown.

The Morans' €230,000 Shantou top lot is housed at Cullentra, while four six-figure acquisitions bound for Elliott had an aggregate cost of €800,000.

At Tattersalls Ireland's Derby Sale, the Morans also secured the top lot in the shape of a €280,000 son of Walk In The Park, as they did at Tattersalls' Cheltenham Sale in April by paying ?220,000 for the highly regarded point-to-point winner Au Fleuron.

While Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud, the cornerstone of Elliott's ascent, is no longer in the market for new blood, he is hardly short of fresh investment.

A few quotes from Nicholls and de Bromhead in the Jockey Club magazine. Nothing too interesting and too much to type out but the summary:

Frodon: Says he "Doesn't see any point in running him in the Cheltenham Gold Cup". No mention of Ryanair but sounds like he will be skipping Cheltenham to me
Clan Des Obeaux: No mention of Cheltenham unsurprisingly

Bravemansgame: Start off novice chasing over two and a half miles, probably via the Kauto Star Novices Chase at Kempton

McFabulous: Better going right handed, might to to the Kauto Star too but will try and keep him and Bravemansgame apart

Paso Doble: "The plan is to aim at the better novice hurdles. He's big, scopey and has a huge engine. You never know what's in the locker."

                        Minella Times: No plans yet

Honeysuckle: Not discussed which way we are going with her yet (I'm assuming this is outdated)

Put The Kettle On: Schloer and Champion Chase

Bob Olinger: Chasing, between two and two and a half miles

                        Minella Indo: Gold Cup

                          C'mon The Kettle!!

Looks like Bollinger will skip Cheltenham then..........no 2 1/4 mile races.......

I'm finding it difficult to part company with my cashout-able Bollinger RSA slips. It's just too good a 'just in case' price at this early stage. Does this make me (even more of...) a mug punter?!

I've the same problem AV. Even if i did cash out i still wouldn't be over confident in deciding arkle or marsh. But the 20/1 is just too good to let go isn't it?

I'd be surprised if they dismissed (or otherwise) the 3m race before the Dublin Festival so I think you'll have plenty of time/opportunity to cash out if you wanted to.
                                Personally I still think there's a reasonable chance that's where he'll head...
