I don't want to be that blinkered with Mullins, De Bromhead and Elliott but concentrating on them is becoming the default option. Stating the obvious?
Yep they do. Was interesting to hear Nicholls throw in a few more targets over the water though. Nice to see he's regrown his balls after Clan winning at Punchestown. Maybe some will follow suit.....ah wait nope.

You can’t blame them, Ireland have the better horses and will mop up at Cheltenham and UK trainers have a duty to do what’s best for their owners, swerving Cheltenham and looking at less competitive races with decent pots when the Irish are busy at Fairyhouse and Punchestown makes sense…

It was about Cheltenham when Nicholls had the likes of Denman, Kauto, Masterminded etc.... now the tables have turned he takes the easier route of 'bullying' the races in the UK the Irish trainers don't turn up for.

Can I blame him? Not really, it's a results based business and prize money, regardless of the race, is what keeps yards/owners going, especially the big spending owners at the top yards like Nicholls'.

                  • Not much about a trainer talking about his horses, but the news, with Elliott's comments today on Jack Kennedy's potential broken arm and Jordan Gainsford's wrist injury. Gordon's going to have to rely on Davy Russell more and more over the next few weeks. I wonder if we'll see Jamie Codd on more hurdlers and chasers. Elliott yard still firing.

Jamie Codd can only ride a certain number of horses under rules to keep his Amateur status.

Like Patrick Mullins he rides in all the Bumpers, as they don’t count towards that number.
Also they can ride in Amateur Rider Only races and they don’t count towards the number.

Then for the other hurdles and chases they tend to get saved up for bigger races.
Patricks do, at least, usually big Graded handicaps or Graded races.

                      • Thanks Saxon. I wonder how much that has on a yard's progress over some crucial weeks, with the sudden loss of two important elements. OK, there are other jockeys riding for Elliott as well, Keith Donohue for one. Let's just see what affect this all has on the yard. Might be none at all as it's a well oiled engine now.

I saw an interview with Keith this week.

He has moved on to a smaller stable, he said he couldn’t cope with all the activity working in a big yard.
It was the first I heard that he had moved.

Another promising horse Cromwell trains for My Mate Mozzie’s owners Alymer Stud is Letsbeclearaboutit, who won three bumpers last season and was runner-up behind the top-class pair of Sir Gerhard and Kilcruit on his other two starts.

However, his jumping introduction is on hold.

“He’s had a bit of setback, so you won’t see him until after Christmas,” Cromwell added.

“Hopefully we’ll have him back for the second half of the season.”

That's a bit of a kick in the balls and JWM/Hollow Games bets are my ball guard.

Thanks for this. Will cash out and reevaluate once or if he comes out later in season!
