  • Win Today & Festival ‘22

Thought it might be worth starting another of these threads given the popularity for this years Festival.

    Sky have;

    Arctic Warrior to win today (18.35 Sligo) & a/r @ 18-1.

    The OG is back baby.

I'm formally tracking these this year, could I have the suspicion these were very fruitful for me last year - added a column on my spreadsheet to track win today specficilly

And so it begins... These bloody things are my nemesis, but they're all part of the fun and build up.

Out of interest, if you take back-to-back Cheltenham festival win bets out of the equation, what was the earliest 'win today and...' bet posters were successful with last season?

….good question. I opened a thread on the subject which included an offer on Galvin on 23rd October but that was a result of other offers being highlighted. I didn’t keep a separate note when I first started doing these.

I think the big gains were the back-to-back festival offers but starting this years thread early will help see if we capture a few winners.

Requested the win today and at the festival with Hills but they refused to price it up. Guessing they lost a lot on these bets last year as they don't have a #yourodds section this year either.

Hi All, first post on here, I requested it with skybet yesterday (Artic warrior) and am hoping for a similar run to the first time.
Was hoping for 20's if I'm honest

…well done, Alex. Hard to gauge if the 18-1 represents value as i haven’t seen it in the a/r markets & they have really tightened the prices this time around. Lets hope it wins impressively.

Hopefully I'm not here to ruin the party, but I've backed accordingly due to a bit of information I got, connections Expecting a "Very good" run from Banger Doyle!

….hard to know what to make of that win for Arctic Warrior. Pulled like a train for a long way, didn’t jump particularly fluently yet ran away from them with ease at the finish like a 1-4 should.

At least it did the first part to start this years thread off.

Yes, it wasn't a great trip round, and the race fell apart at the end.

There were only two horses in it, and one blew out badly.

Ran so green that it's impossible to know what to make of it.
Got on another one of these earlier in the year, GDC to win the daily mirror hurdle at punchestown and any race at chelt 22 @40/1 which I feel pretty good about

….keep them coming & highlight them on here if you request any so we can consider backing them.

I think Arctic Warrior’s next race will tell us more, be interesting if there is any market reaction & where it next turns up.

Interesting to see if any of Willie's started out this early and went on to win either a novice hurdle or a handicap hurdle as a novice at the Festival.

Did any of your Mullins research pick up any such early starters Sax?

Penhill ran through the summer up to December, then had a break and came back next time out to win the Bartlett.

Its not Willies style to do this with many.

Its easy to check each race thread in the Willie Mullins Diary and check the race profile for his winners out.

The winners are highlighted in bright red.

Looking at the 3 novice hurdles then the very very few that ran in the summer and ended in the Supreme and Ballymore were roundly thrashed.

Ngolo last year too now I think about it. He also ended up in the Bartlett.

The Bartlett is also a race that has tended to favour experienced horses. Hmmmm...........

Not quoted, but something to watch and consider.
