And apologies for ignoring protocol and bugging some of you guys by not announcing my arrival on the forum.
To be honest, I didn't think anyone would notice it was my first post when I finally plucked up the courage to write something after being a fan of the forum for the last couple of years.
Quevega is right, I am an old git - National Hunt racing has been my passion for 60 years. My dad says I learned to read on the racing page of the paper. I still spend months studying form to find big price winners at the Cheltenham Festival which is why I came knocking on your door - assuming you guys love unearthing the Norton Coins of this world as much as I do.
So I was rather sad to read the comments of Kevloaf, Quevega and Faugheen_Machine in response to my first post.
Anyway, sorry once again for my rudeness.
I think it's best if I just walk quietly back out through the door and leave you to it. Good luck at Cheltenham everyone.
    NC

I’m a very young 65 so stop being overly sensitive and get stuck in please.

You need to take note of the Emoji’s as that sets the tone of the posts , as we all know the written word is easily misinterpreted and misunderstood.

So FFS grow a pair and enjoy yourself

Politely suggest you post your selections , I’m poor at updating mine .

By reading this Forum you will know and recognise that it is extremely well run and a credit to all involved .

Norton’s Coin caused Independent Bookies to go bankrupt in Carmarthen , I remember it well as a lot of people weren’t paid out

Don’t know where you live but if I did I’d be knocking on your door and dragging you out

I’m sure your contributions will be of value along the way NC and don’t give up. You’ll find the mood can turn a bit snappy after a day of ‘out the Festival’ announcements because people have lost money and trying to explain why to anyone who doesn’t follow horse racing is hard work and pointless. Plus I wouldn’t take offence if your posts get ignored, most of mine do all the time but Ive got no one outside this forum to talk horse racing with so I just post on here for my own sanity and entertainment

I think the reply’s were all in jest, it’s difficult to interpret when it’s written a lot of the time. If you’ve been following horse racing for as long as you have then your experience will help so please stay with us and don’t take it to heart

People would not bother to acknowledge your post if they weren't pleased to hear from you.
You'd have been ignored by some wether you knocked or not
And I never said 'Git', although your latest post now sounds a bit miserable.
You were not rude whatsoever, and you did not need to apologise.

Punctually one of the best posters ever as well.
Retired teacher or public servant I'd guess ?

Stick around Norton! 99% of that was tongue in cheek and someone who has been around racing as long as you would be an asset to the forum.

Generally speaking this place can be quite odd between the end of the DRF and Cheltenham. All people really have to do is wait and speculate, with hammer blows of bad news thrown in just for good measure. People are restless, they want it to start and bad news for some is inevitably means good news for others, which makes things interesting.

Setting all that aside, the place is invaluable. If you want proper, decent, knowledgeable views on racing, then this is the place to be.

              • Hasn’t he drifted from 16s to 25s? (And at times lower than 16s)

Doesn’t scream a plot coming to fruition

                • I just noticed that he seems to have been forgotten about after all the hype last year, when all he's really done wrong was one poor run in the triumph on his first run in britain.

Aah right the horse of the persistent hope and disappointment!! I won’t be wasting any more money on Pic, I’ve got a small TWAR on him from last season but have little enthusiasm and hope left for him.

You could also say, he's never really done anything right to justify that hype?

                          • I know it would'nt be the first time a nicholls horse was talked up to be something its not, but I think to say he's been disappointing would be a little harsh at this stage. I'd be leaning on the side of giving him one more chance to impress, he shouldnt have any problems settling today so if he shows nothing again then yeah i'd probably forget about him
