The handicap thread first noted The Storyteller on 5th December for this race, and has been followed over the next six weeks by posts for The Cashel Man, Portrush Ted, Discorama, Pic D’Orhy, Dame De Compagnie, Burrows Saint and Champagne Well.

The market at the date of this post has the following heading the market:-
    25/1 Stratum
    25/1 Whiskey Sour
    25/1 The Cashel Man
    25/1 Protektorat
    25/1 Mill Green
    25/1 Ilikedwayurthink
    25/1 Happygolucky
    33/1 Gardens of Babylon
    33/1 Pic D’Orhy
    33/1 Dame De Compagnie
    33/1 Ciel De Neige
    33/1 Ballyandy
    33/1 Apples Shakira

Look forward to Coral Cup chat in the next few weeks before the Festival.

Any Novice Hurdlers that you think will be targeted here? Nicky Henderson does well here, but the Irish are three wins from the last four.

My own choice early is PIC D’OHRY, and one bookmaker offered 40/1 for less than an hour which some of the forum interested in the horse managed to snaffle, along with me. The horse returns from a break after falling on his novice chase debut, and is due to run tomorrow over 2M3F over hurdles, fingers crossed he keeps the fires of that bet burning for a while yet.

Colm murphy is getting Relegate out over the Drf in a handicap hurdle, only rated 130 which is a mark with huge potential.

Can only hope that's why she hasn't been seen partly, as well as protecting her mark.

If she brushes up her jumping even just a little 130 is mega attractive.

Hope its worked and we finally see this mare back where she belongs.

Saxon you are a king (or queen) - great write up. Champagne Well, Dame De compagnie, Protektorat and Ciel De Neige are on my shortlist for this. But all could go for the martin pipe. Love this race.

You are welcome Hardy, love to contribute and read what others have to say.

The handicap hurdles are the races that get the brain cogs whirring. Love the day that the entries come out for big handicap hurdles, and then the weights. Research like mad trying to find a couple against the field by the end of initial entries day. Cant go too big before I know what is actually targeted at these races.

I am now going to be lazy and keep eye on everyones selections and reasoning before i piggy back one., and im not light

I am hoping Ciel De Neige will go County but could go here I guess.

Unraced (unexposed) beyond 2m so maybe it would eek out some improvement stepping up but ran very well last year in the Fred Winter and finished 3rd behind a very well handicapped horse. I do have a bet at 27/1 any race but also backed the County at 33s

I posted about Protektorat in the main handicap thread a while back. He’s going to trials day for the Ballymore trial and if he gets beat the fall back plan is this. As he could be up against The Big Breakaway I’m not sure he’ll be beating him.
