Belfast ...
Panel-
Gary O'Brien
Gordo (no show so far )
David Casey
Kevin Blake
Couch Winstanley
Brian & Ronan Graham all in attendance.
Gordo got lost so Ian B stood in.
Supreme-
DC- Joe Donnelly lets Willie decide.
Asterion Forlonge, surprised how far he’s come, he keeps improving, but he shows more at the track than at home, Shiskin the one for me.
IB-last minute decision on Envoi on the ground. If goes Ballymore still thinks Abacab one of their better chances of week.
BUSTY - Abacadabras has been freshened up, he has to have a big chance. His form is working out well and he has 4 runs going there, which is a big asset.
COUCH – If you like Shiskin you have to like Shakeemuparry for the Imperial Cup. I’m all over Abacadbaras, he’s done nothing wrong, looks a real speed horse. I think he should be favourite.
KB - Chantry House has a bit of the X Factor about him, at the prices, he looks immense value. He should shorten up throughout the week
On to the Arkle....
KB – Fakir is an exceptional jumper; I’d be surprised if he didn’t run. But its hard to get away from Brewinupastorm, Olly Murphy is very happy with him, and he is a very backable price.
COUCH – They will go a mad pace from the get go, they will be like a Grand National group. Rouge Vif looks a big price, he’s a great each way bet.
BG – Notebook is a 2 stone better horse over fences than hurdles, a horse that I like that no one has mentioned is, Dan Skelton’s Maire Banrigh, getting the 7lbs can be a great asset. Great each-way value.
Champion Hurdle Next.
KB – Darver Star just looks the wrong price, he was running off 104 at Wexford last year, which is mad when you think about it. He looked a shade unlucky at Leopardstown, when he powered home, given another 50 yards he could off beat Honeysuckle.
DC – I’d be amazed if Benie Des Dieux ran, and if so, she be up against it. If she runs in the mare’s hurdle, she wins. Cilaos Emery could run into a place, he deserves his run and is a Grade 1 performer.
Busty – Coeur Sublime was very good at Down Royal, he works very well, he’s quick. He looks value in comparison to Pentland Hills. A great each-way shout.
COUCH – Everytime I watch it I get more impressed with Epatante, Pentland Hills run at Haydock reminded me off the Irish Rugby team at Twickenham. Epatante will shorten and I think she will bolt up.
BG – It’s an awful champion hurdle, only 5 of the 31 entries have won last time out. Ballyandy has course form, I’m afraid to say it, but I think he has a great chance.
Ballymore Time.
BUSTY – Everyone from day one always loved him (Envoi Allen), he’s most likely to go here, although he could run over any trip. He’s a backable price at the minute, I’d say he will shorten up on the day.
COUCH – Envoi Allen just looks a good thing, don’t look any further. He looks a proper champion. Take the 11/8
KB – Given how wide he was in the Champion Bumper, and how strongly he finished, in front of super horses is incredible. If your going to take him on it has to be Sporting John, but its very hard to oppose the jolly at this stage.
Will keep adding as it comes along.......
RSA
DC – I Would say Faugheen will run in the Marsh Chase, Rich seems to be very keen to run him there. I see it very hard to see Allaho out of the first three. He’s a much better horses over fences.
COUCH – Allaho was impressive last time out, I was taken by that. I don’t think Champ will get around, he’s one to stand for the bookmakers.
KB – Minella Indo, doesn’t have much experience, and his form behind Laurina hasn’t worked out but there’s loads of improvement there, and he’s the one I would be with.
BG – The horse that I like is Copperhead, won the last day as Ascot pulling a cart and he’s improved five-fold. A super each way bet.
Champion Chase
DC – Chacun Pour Soi can go and win, the soft ground will be a big plus. Altior is the one to beat, but our lad will be the one to serve it up to him.
KB – Defi’s jumping has got better and better this year. In the race like a Champion Chase, it should suit Barry’s tactics, being held up for a late run.
BG – Altior just finds more and more, I couldn’t be on Chacun’s boat with no previous run at Cheltenham. This looks a three horse race from a betting perspective, and course form should prove a major factor in the winner.
BG Do you win QM with no course form? Going to lay all three. Hoping for an Espoir. Show of hands says Defi. All scared of KB. DC tactics going to play big part, where’s the pace. Chacun wants a good
Champion Bumper
DC – Our lad will take all the beating, he has a huge engine (Appreciate It) , the forms there and the 13/8 wouldn’t stop me betting him. we were surprised by Panic Attack's win, id near fancy Ferny Hollow over her.
COUCH – You’d be having a panic attack after buying Panic attack after them comments from David. I have been keeping bumper times for the last 40 years, and nothing has impressed me more than Appreciate It. The 3rd horse was beaten 20 lengths, you just don’t see that.
BUSTY – Queens Brook will offer the most improvement from our horses. When she won the last time, she didn’t half empty the tank. She would be my bet, although Willie’s horse looks deadly.
KB – Appreciate It looked like an absolute cart job at Leopardstown, from a betting point of view, he look’s an Irish Banker. He could scare a few of the opponents away
Half time drinkies & search party for pie man
Back in 20 mins
About to kick off, Ronan steps in for Brian. KB on the phone for Richard Hoiles’s handicap Lucky 31.
RYANAIR
KB – I was talking to Henry the other day and he said there’s only a 5% chance of A Plus Tard jumping ship. He looks tailor made for this, I know there’s not much between him and Min, but to me, 2m is Min’s optimum trip. At 5/2 A Plus Tard is my week banker
RG -The two at the top of the market should shorten up. We’d be happy enough standing the two of them 4/5 against the field. For me, Frodon looks a bet to nothing, and will improve bundles from this years form
Stayers Hurdle
DC – Benie would run very well if she went for it, but i'd say she would go to the Champion Hurdle before this. Paisley Park looks very unlikely to be conquered.
RG – As much as we think Paisley Park is an absolute certainty, we will be standing him, we cannot go to Cheltenham without cashing a horse at this price. We will be boosting him also in our live shows in our shops.
The rest of the Panel agree and nobody opposes Paisley Park, can anything beat him ?
TRIUMPH HURDLE
RG – There is an extreme lack of Irish horses for this, which is disappointing, from our point of view, we will stand the first three in the market, Hoping Allmankind and Goshen go hammer and tong early on.
KB – There is some lunatics in this race, if you put a gun to my head, it would be Aspire Tower, I think he would of won at Leopardstown going away.
COUCH – Sir Psycho was visually impressive this year. Nicholls horses are flying, and he thinks this horse is a machine. He’s a lovely price and will be getting my readies thrown at him.
ALBERT BARTLETT
DC – Monkfish isn’t a bad horse, but I wouldn’t back him. Janidl would fit the profile here, if he ran he could definitely get placed.
BUSTY - Fury Road is better than his last run, put a line thru it. He definitely goes with a live chance. I wouldn’t swap him for anything in the race, and he’s 14/1.
COUCH – this should be called the bookmakers race. I like Ramses De Teillee , he’s a course winner and will love the ground. I agree with Busty I Fury Road should be bang there also.
GOLD CUP
RG – I just can’t have Santini , the horse I keep on coming back to is Presenting Percy. At 10/1 with Davy Russell on board he could be the one.
KB – It wouldn’t shock me if Presenting Percy he came back to his RSA form, but I like Santini, he’s lazy and workmanlike but he the way he beat Bristol De Mai really caught the eye, and for me, he’s my idea of the winner.
COUCH – Al Boum Photo for me, I think Willie has cracked the code with him. Presenting Percy’s RSA form is class, but it was two years ago, two years ago I could see my toes.
DC – I can’t have Santini either, I think Al Boum Photo deserves to be favourite, it’s a tough race but he’s in good order and has to have a big chance. I would pick him over Kemboy anyway.
BUSTY – I think Delta Work should have won at Cheltenham last year. He hasn’t put a foot wrong bar needing a run at Down Royal. He’s electric at home and I wouldn’t swap him.
BEST BETS
KB – I must give Front View a mention, i would say he will go to the Martin pipe and Jonjo JR will take the mount. He looks well handicapped and f he’s jumping has improved he should be bang there.
David Casey STRONGLY backs this fancy up.
KB 2 - Plan of Attack in the Kim Muir – Barry O’Neill takes the mount and that is a huge asset, he’s a great horseman. I would be amazed if he didn’t go off a single figure price on the da
BUSTY – It’s very hard to see Tiger Roll get beat after his performance last year, he knows where he is when he gets to Cheltenham and he will win in my opinion.
BUSTY – Calvin looks is very well handicapped. Recent Revelations looks a big price compared to Aramax in the Boodle’s Juvenile hurdle, and he looks value. Ravenhill looks a useful stayer and he would be my pick in the Kim Muir. In the county hurdle
DC- Melon will benefit greatly from the step up in trip and expect a different horse. Carefully Selected has course form, he’s a hell of a good horse and he’s the one to beat. I think Benie Des Dieux will beat Honeysuckle if they meet, she’s very good.
COUCH – Imperial Aura/ Conflated / Alfa Mix
RG- If Honeysuckle wins the Champion hurdle it will be a long week for us. My NAP is Vindacation, he was Seriously impressive last time out and I can see him go off short, the word is hes Gold Cup potential
DC – Allaho – whatever she runs in and 5/1 looks massive, leaning towards the RSA
BUSTY – Abacadabras in the Supreme, at 9/2 I can’t see him out of the first three.
COUCH – Lord Du Mesnil , looks thrown in and is shortening all the time.
KB – Plan of Attack, Carefully Selected jumps like a wardrobe and is a massive LAY.
That’s all folks
Gordo still MIA

There wasn't much info to learn from it last night. Elliot's stand in and "right hand man" couldn't even tell us whether Delta Work was away working at Leopardstown yesterday... some right hand man.

My own effort from last night
Cheltenham Preview Night @ Haydock Park – 02/03/20
Panel
GL – Gareth Leonard (MC)
MC – Martin Chapman
MG – Micky Hammond
RW – Ryan Winks
AG - Andy Gibson
CL – Carl Llewelyn
Day 1
Supreme Novices
RW – Likes Irish Form in this, Asterion Forlonge is his one, doesn’t think Shishkin will come here (which is surprising)
AG – Shishkin has been impressive but has slow times, cannot be sure a fast Supreme pace will suit. Is surprised Asterion Forlonge isn’t going over further. Tolworth form hasn’t been much good in this, Fiddlerontheroof will want it soft. Chantry House winning would be a surprise with his 140 rating (need to be 150 ideally). Choice is Abracadabras but worried yard have been quiet on him.
MC – Backed Abra at 14/1, Irish are good in this race. Would lay Shishkin.
MH – Race will probably go to Ireland with Abra or Asterion winning. Worried Shishkin may not be as street wise as those two, thinks Sporting John should run in this.
CL – Has Stolen Silver running (for NTD) but not good enough. Says it is bottomless on the gallops and doesn’t think it will be Good/Soft next Tuesday. Shishkin way too short and prefers Fiddler & Chantry.
Arkle
MC – Best race of festival for the favourites. 5 & 8 year olds not best records in this. Brewinupastorm well backed in recent days but thinks Notebook will win.
MH – Notebook a natural and will probably win. Brewinupastorm EW could be a good bet and Mr Fisher could be the improver and run a big race.
CL – Has Al Dancer & Torpillo entered, AD has bits of form with Mr Fisher and can run well. Brewin done little wrong and good value at the price.
RW – Can’t see past Notebook
AG – The big Irish 3 are very strong and one will most likely win. Has played Fakir D’ouderies & Cashback in various EW Multiples. No 1 choice would be Fakir though but needs to be ridden aggressively.
Ultima
CL – Count Meribel probably won’t go and Flying Angel has been disappointing. Townsend would be of interest if he goes here, been in good form. STD hasn’t picked which one he wants to ride yet. Doesn’t like Vinndication.
GL – Likes Who Dares Wins if he goes here (one of favourite horses in training)
AG – Worried Vinndication doesn’t go left handed. Would like Cloth Cap on better ground.
MC – Been some money around for Kildisart.
RW – Likes Cepage
Champion Hurdle
MH – Has Cornerstone Lad here and he is in good form, working at Catterick on Wednesday after racing. Would Lay Epatante. Ballyandy has a chance and word from Ireland for Darver Star.
MC – Would take on Epatante. Doesn’t think Pentland Hills is very genuine. If Honeysuckle came here would probably back her. Sharjah and Supasundae may have a chance but the age stats are against the latter. Been some money for Not So Sleepy.
CL – Ballyandy EW chance, softer the better. Ran well at Haydock LTO. Doesn’t like Pentland Hills, says he is a wuss.
RW – Likes Epatante but would go Honeysuckle if she rocked up here.
AG – Wasn’t happy he missed the 6/1 on Epatante for the Xmas Hurdle, looked away for 5 mins and she went 100/30 from 6s. Ballyandy a good guide for this race. Wouldn’t be surprised if 3 16/1 shots filled the first 3 home. Maybe the play is back Pentland Hills and lay 2 out as he will be travelling well.
Mares
AG – BDD will win. Hopes Honeysuckle will come here and make it a good race.
Northern Trust
GL – Hold the Note very interesting off 145.
RW – Best value is Galvin EW
CL – Doesn’t fancy his The Hollow Ginge, likes Annie mac if goes here.
NH Chase
AG – No view on the race
CL – Would have liked to have seen Copperhead in this.
MC – Thinks Carefully Selected is too short.
MH – Says he won’t give a sh*t if Cornerstone Lad wins the Churdle.
Day 2
Ballymore Novices
MC – Envoi Allen wasn’t as impressive LTO, The Big Getaway and The Big Breakaway lively contenders and could upset EA.
MH – Thinks EA looks super and will be hard to beat. Would prefer Chantry House to go here.
CL – If Mossy Fen goes here, he is a big price for his rating, TBB is only 1 lb higher yet much shorter. Likes Latest Exhibition but may not come here.
RW – Fancies Sporting John for this. And also mentions Minella Melody if she came here.
AG – Also likes TBB. If Abra or AF wins the Supreme then would lump EA but no value at present.
RSA
GL – Would take Champ on.
AG – Champ is classy but only if everything goes his way. Backed in EW multiples. Worried about his dodgy jumping though and could quite easily end up on the deck. Copperhead will run well and should be in first 4.
RW – Cannot get away from champ, maybe the latest fall will help him concentrate more.
CL – Cannot have Champ and calls him a pus*y. Too many ifs and buts and guessed at far too many fences. Prefers Minella Indo and has solid form and better value. Thinks Rachel Blackmore will have a good festival.
MH – Doesn’t like Champ either, idea of winner is Copperhead but would back EW.
MC – Champ is the class act but does worry about the fall and that is a negative. Minella Indo has decent form and right profile. Copperhead should go ok and cannot have Battleoverdoyen after a fall.
Coral Cup
RW – Likes Janadil & Easy Work EW
AG – Likes Canardier in this, was 5th last year and didn’t have the best passage on inside.
MH – Word for Canardier.
Champion Chase
MH – In Altior camp, Defi Du Seuil never runs bad race. Dynamite Dollars could go well at a price.
CL – Interesting race and tactics will play a huge part, Ignore Altior’s defeat against Cyrname but goes for DDS.
RW – Loves Altior and cannot get away from him. Thinks Chacun Pour Soi will be main danger.
AG – Track position in this could be vital, has backed DDS and also thinks Dynamite Dollars can run well.
MC – No pace in the race so will probably just sit back and enjoy. If he had to pick one it would be DDS.
Cross Country
CL – Tiger Roll is biggest certainty of meeting.
RW – Agrees on TR.
MH – Might Bite may go well.
Boodles Fred Winter
AG – Has backed Repetitio, beaten older horses and has C & D form.
MH – Fujimoto Flyer.
MC – Mick Pastor off top weight could go well.
Champion Bumper
MH – Likes Ask a Honey Bee at a big price.
MC – Have laid a lot on Appreciate It.
Day 3
Marsh Novices
RW – Get on Faugheen at 6/1.
CL – No strong feeling, tough race and wait to see who turns up.
MC – Faugheen a ledge but worries about his age. Likes Itchy Feet.
GL – Who Dares Wins if he runs here.
AG – Prefers Easy Game to Faugheen, has backed Mr Fisher at a bigger price and he is still good value.
MH – Another one who likes Mr Fisher if he comes here, Reserve Tank a small EW chance.
Pertemps
AG – Sire Du Berlais has had some interesting rides this year and now back on a good mark. Skandiburg has won on the course and looks decent.
CL – SDB and Relegate EW
MC – Bit of money about for Kilbricken Storm
RW – Would lay Relegate. Silver Sheen and Welsh Saint EW.
Ryanair
CL – Ridersonthestorm had a hard race LTO and would be concerned. Likes A Plus Tard, if ground is bottomless would love to see Bristol De Mai here.
RW – Min, good jumper and solid, a big fan.
AG – APT is correct favourite but no bet. Aso place chance.
MH – Frodon knows how to do it here. Nicholls not been as scattergun as usual and has a more elite squad.
MC – APT is correct favourite. Min has run well v Altior here. Backed Aso last year. Saint Calvados is a good EW at a price.
Stayers Hurdle
GL – Likes Summerville Boy
MH – Expecting Paisley Park to win, SB EW.
MC – SB has a good turn of foot and may trouble PP in a slowly run race. Says Tony Bloom hasn’t backed Penhill and PP is going to be hard to beat if a good pace is set.
CL – PP has the best engine and if SB makes the running it will suit PP. Tobefair may run well at a price is very soft. Also mentions Lisnagar Oscar.
RW – If PP is set up he will p*ss this. City Island sneaky EW chance, Worlds End a great EW.
AG – PP should win. Would trade SB in running. West Approach has form last season with PP and may be 2nd for the forecast. Is a big price EW. Penhill has had a proper campaign for once but hasn’t been off until last time and was beaten by Cracking Smart, looks like he may be being set up for a big handicap.
Browns
CL – Good Boy Bobby has a chance in this after a nice break.
RW – Would like Flowery but too low in handicap. Simply the Betts and Spiritofthegames EW.
AG – GBB well handicapped and would like G/S ground. Spiritofthegames a banker for first 4/5.
Mares Novice
Wasn’t mentioned.
Kim Muir
MH – Likes Ravenhill but will wait until day.
MC – Money for Kilfilum Cross for a gambling yard.
Day 4
Triumph Hurdle
MC – Goshen is a nutter, lay him all day long. Also would like to take on Solo. Likes Sir Psycho.
MH – Sir Psycho looks a streetwise horse but impressed with Solo and could be hard to beat.
GL – Likes Solo.
RW – Also likes Solo, looks class. EW on Cerberus.
AG – Had backed Allmankind tonight and will trade out top of the hill. Solo rating a joke although he did look good.
Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle
CL – Runs Redford Road, has improved and goes in fresh. Mossy Fen will finish 5th or 6th if he goes here.
RW – really likes Monkfish and the Cashel Man is a massive price EW on his form with Thyme Hill.
AG – Also says The Cashel Man is a huge price at 50s. Also likes Thyme Hill and Latest Exhibition.
County Hurdle
CL – Says Sir Valentine will go in Imperial Cup on Sat and has a good chance. Stolen Silver will go Coral.
Foxhunters
Nothing mentioned
Gold Cup
MC – Santini been weak today. Will be hard for Al Boum Photo to win back to back. Clan Des Obeaux won’t stay, Delta Work has a live chance as does Presenting Percy.
MH – Disappointed Native River doesn’t go as he would have made the race. ABP been trained just for this. DW has a Gold Cup win in him. Thinks CDO will be up there and better than last year. If he had to pick one he would go for Lostintranslation as he has heard he’s working well. Also mentions Monalee EW.
CL – Nigel has backed BDM at 50s for this. A huge price discrepancy between him and Santini after last run, say it is mad. Just can’t see Santini winning. Likes ABP and also Monalee.
RW – Thinks Delta Work will go to Ryanair (for some reason). Gives Kemboy a chance and Santini is way too short.
AG – Impossible race to pick as 7 or 8 horses and evenly matched. ABP could well go in again. Thinks Santini (slow boat) and DW will be in the top 4. Worries about LIT on the ground. Would back PP if ground is bottomless. Also agrees with CL over BDM.
GL – Mentioned Jett for a place, AG says he has improved but probably not enough.
Grand Annual
Nothing mentioned
Martin Pipe
CL – Says Our Power is the best chance of NTD’s. He then said NTD just scatters his horses everywhere and not every selective.
NAPS
MC – Abracadabras
MH – Notebook (Lay Chump, he means Champ)
GL – A Wave of the Sea EW (Triumph)
CL – A Plus Tard (lay Thyme Hill), also says Al Dancer EW in Arkle and Goshen.
RW – Wants to say BDD but too short so goes Faugheen for the Marsh.
Ag – Mr Fisher EW (Marsh)
Someone asked a question about the corona virus and if the possibilities if it gets worse, AG says back it Each Way J

Gordon didn't get lost - he double booked and he bows to the O'Leary paymasters!!
Some additional notes from Europa (Gault Stats twitter feed is excellent so not much to add)-
- The general view was that the ground will be soft
- Ryanair expected to cut up - DDG and Aso given mentions at big prices
- Couch said Chanty House was 50/50 with Shiskin in the Henderson yard
- If you fancy Shiskin you should be all over ShakehimupHarry in the Imperial at Sandown
- Altior needs GS - softer the better for CPS. Race will be tactical and ground dependant
- None of them would back Notebook until they see him at the start, softer the better for Fakir.
- David Casey very very sweet on Allaho in RSA.
- Casey seemed adamant that Faugheen would travel, and would run Marsh.
- Kevin Blake all over APT and made a decent case for Darver Star (mainly based on Honeysuckle formline)
- HDB given a shout out to be top trainer
- Galvin and Front View the strongest Handicap shouts
- Honourable mentions for Thatsy (County), Sire Du Berlais (Pertemps), Ravenhill (Jamie Codd, Good Ground required), Plan of Attack (Barry ONeill, Kim Muir), Recent Revelations (Boodles), Bosses Oscar (MP), Adjali (County), Breelan D'Ar (Grand Annual), Vindiccation (Ultima - possible Gold Cup horse), Relegate (Pertemps), Lord du Mesnil (NH Chase)
- Several of the panel against Carefully Selected.

Great effort Jono but I'd love to know what the panel were drinking there.
No mention of Fakie Doudaries despite the whole of Ireland talking about him.
Penhill going for a handicap ?
Delta Work heading to the Ryanair ?
Gallops bottomless ?
