  • Not sure if you can do this, but maybe put the non members zone on a buffer so posts show up a couple hours later for non-members so it ensures members get the information first?

    • Or could we just start a sort of secret service MI5 thread in the members sections where FJ members can post information which could be particularly price sensitive?

It obviously wouldn't be a foolproof solution to the problem but would at least ensure FJ members get first dibs.

      • I remember a Documentary from back in the Day about Bookies and Traders and one of the traders revealed that it was his job to phone all the Telephone tipsters and cut all the prices and could also monitor who was backing them

        • If we had some sort of vetting process that identified people who don't wear socks with trousers/suits etc... then we could nip most of the issue (if there is one) in the bud straight off.

            Seems a very sensible suggestion.

Agree. We are going to get an unwanted 'Getting a bit too big for our boots' tag if we don't watch out.

I think it's a great community and unlike anywhere else i've experienced in 'forum' form, the help, support and thorough research on offer is superb. There's the odd poster that seems to exist just to be relentlessly condescending, but that's about it.

                    • Hello all- never played one ante post for a handicap at Cheltenham but a horse caught my eye this week on Saturday in Ireland.

Ash Tree Meadow was an unfancied 11/1 shot behind an Elliot stablemate (Gringo D’Aubrelle, who won) and a Mullins hotpot who won last years Goffs bumper in Ireland (Adamently Chosen, who was 2nd) despite a very nice 15L p2p win.

Beaten only 4L, I felt he got a bit of a considerate ride, travelled well and kept on well and I just couldn’t help but think if he got the right mark he’d be a right candidate for the Martin Pipe.

The winner was narrowly beaten by Blazing Khal in a maiden hurdle, and he has since won a Grade 2 at Cheltenham so combined with the Mullins Goffs bumper winner, this has a solid enough feel to the form to gauge that we might have a Graded horse on our hands.

A chaser in the making, will enjoy a trip and just looked all in all a very decent prospect to my highly untrained eye.

My knowledge on rules and qualifications for races is appalling so with that in mind, anything I ought to know that means he’s unlikely (or cannot) run?

                      Cheers

He’s a ?135k purchase from Point to Points ( with Donnchadh Doyle) so he’s a novice. Yesterday was his first run under rules so would need 2 more starts before he gets a handicap mark. Nice first run though - defo one for your tracker - IMO

                          Thanks mate- much appreciated.

I recall a few younger gigginstown horses winning like Sir Des Champs and Don Poli and thought this horse reminded me a little of them.

I think the first 2 might also be aimed at handicaps later in the season and Adamantly Chosen will want a bit further than 2m. If the 2nd can jump better he'd have a decent chance in the MP. I can't see him being aimed at the G1s as Mullins will have a few more better than him for the those.

I'd like to see Ash Tree Meadow in a more strongly raced 2m next time out.
