It is but race fitness appears to be more and more important in that race 7b. It's usually won by one that's already been out and that's why I've been watching for an entry. Too late after this weekend I'd say and he's not entered in anything.

I am alone in thinking that Maries Rock doesn't look a completely lost cause. Will need to be better in preliminaries and clearly needs to held in off a strong pace but it was still strange to see the jockey pull in behind a rival when the winner had skipped multiple lengths clear today. She was really highly thought off a couple of years ago and now has a mark which could be used wisely in a big handicap (where there will be a strong pace she craves) this year. The County or Coral Cup (trip might not be ideal but trainer has a good record) could be potential Festival targets.

Wouldn't be running that close to the PP chase. I'd imagine if he runs at Exeter then he's very unlikely to be going to Cheltenham.

That was a strange ride by Sean Bowen. Like you say there appeared to be gaps to run in to but he chose to jump into trouble almost. Notwithstanding she still looks very inexperienced (only her 6th run) and doesn't look a straightforward ride. She was on and off the bridle so probably just needs to learn how to race.
She's definitely one to add to the tracker at this stage.

It's not out of the question, but you wouldn't want him to have a tough race. It's about as late as you'd want a prep to be. Today's Colin Parker is usually the last trial horses take in on the way.

I'd only be interested now if he was run out the back to blow the cobwebs away.

Possible one to keep an eye out for the county , Calico. Quote Dan 'We chucked him in quite deep last season as he was a high-class Flat horse.

“He got outstayed in the Dovecote at Kempton but I was gutted as I thought he would win. He will improve a lot this season and start off in the Welsh Champion.

ran 8th in that race, mark niw down to 136. Skelton has used the welsh champion hurdle as a stepping stone for the county with both mohaayed and ch'tbello. DS also mentioned calico might target the Greatwood or ladbroke at Ascot too so he perhaps does think this horse is potentially well handicapped.

Also would like to mention teahupoo, We know how good this hirse was last year and is sitting on a nice mark at present, Gordon mentioned that he thought he was a true 3miler and with that in mind i would perhaps be keeping an eye out for a 2m4f entry for him or maybe a pretempts entry too.

Skelton's Spiritofthegames is an interesting one if the return to timber is with a view to tackling the final again in March, he went there off 141 last season and is now 139, could easily work his mark down to mid 130s.

Gordon used to like a Huntingdon entry as it was close enough to the Festival that if the mark was right, he could keep them off the track and go straight to Cheltenham.
