  • Probably best to ignore them comments and wait for someone else to confirm their well being, Patrick mullins is a lying cunt.

      • From those comments I'd be pretty certain Appreciate It goes chasing and Ferney stays Hurdling. My opinion of course.

Ferney Hollow has unfinished business hurdling.

It may be worth them trying him in good company early, against two or three of his other 2M hurdle horses, in a Grade 1 or 2 to see if he is going to be better than his other Champion Hurdle contenders.

He usually uses the Grade 1 Morgiana at the start of December for that.
They could give Ferny a run before that.

If he came up short then he could take in a Beginners chase, in December, and have a dart at Graded races.

I think they will start with hurdling though, he has only run in one.

          • i would be surprised if Willie didn't know what he has on his hands with FH already , he had him back in training before the end of the season and kept him at home

            • He's only 6, has had just one hurdle run and has already had a season ending injury. Willie will not risk him over fences this coming season. His one Hurdle run reads well and his Fez bumper win reads just as well. He could easily be the best gelding around over hurdles next season.

              • Really looking forward to seeing ferny return and hoping it's over hurdles, have thrown a few free bets in that direction !

                • Anyone heard anything mentioned about future plans for Soaring Glory? Jonjo is a fox and I’d fancy him for a handicap pot… possibly a Grand Annual?

                  • Can someone explain the staying over hurdles with ferny rationale? Is it purely because of the lower stresses involved in hurdling rather than chasing? And is that related to the actual injury he had?

To me, a horse who's only had one run over hurdles would surely be better suited to going novice chasing from a racing perspective, where he can have a few more easy races in novice company, rather than going straight into open age hurdles against battle hardened opposition. Is it the injury perspective that I'm missing or is there something else?

If I was cheveley park, I'd also be considering ferny as a potential champion chaser, which with allaho, a plus tard and envoi gives the chance of winning all three championship chases at the festival within the same ownership - I assume that hasn't ever been done before?

                    • Yes the thought process about staying hurdling another season is because of the return from injury although I still think they'll go chasing with him. I like your champion chase angle although I have backed for the Arkle. I think if there is an issue with Appreciate It then Ferny could be the main Arkle hope for Willie Mullins.

I suspect they may get him out early to get some experience into him like they did with Saint Roi last season

                        • Saint roi is a bit of a forgotten horse. Wonder if he’ll go novice chasing this season?

Absolutely, I felt a bit warm inside reading his comments then I remembered to take Patrick Mullins comments with a pinch of salt. Chasing would be great for me as I have all my eggs in the Arkle basket as far as Ferny Hollow goes.

I really would be surprised if it was this season.
