Probably best to wait until his 2nd run at least to gauge if improvement.

    • Irish national hcap plot rather than Cheltenham was my first thought after watching that especially with jumping right.

      • Just watched the race, he did jump to his right slightly but nothing on the scale of Asterion Forlonge.

I’d be happy to let him have another run before dismissing him if the NHC is the goal. The winner had a big fitness edge and 11lbs less to carry.

Come on. You really think that Gordon has been sitting on his hands the last few months?

Sneezy in name only. Gordon wasn’t ejected from the yard, just couldn’t put his name to it.

              • dunno really , not sure how much involvement he would have had , he got a right scare when it all blew up in his face and he has maybe taken his medicine to the letter , Mrs Foster might well be establishment as well and was put in there precisely so he didn't train from the shadows

                • they couldn't ban him from the yard because he lives there

They stuck him in a caravan in furthest field away from the stables. Gave him a few months supply of baked beans and a subscription to pornhub.

Given the size of him recently, they must have struggled to get him back

                      • Not seen the race yet but isn't there some rule about finishing 1st or 2nd over a certain trip to get into the National Hunt Chase? Does that 2nd today help? Wheres a brainiac when you want one?

Yep, I imagine his training involves standing and pointing and watching and telling people what to do.
Obviously he needs to take phone calls and sit down every now and then as well.
Just needs to learn to walk to a bench and not just sit down on the nearest thing to where he's stood.
And that looks more difficult than ever, unless they place treats on all the benches around the yard

                            Trip not long enough today.

                            • been reliably informed that Gordon took no part in any work in the morning or during the working day , only time was in the evening when he goes round checking on them , spent most of his time going round all the sales , and eating by all accounts , he reckons he would be involved in planning etc for the future or with owners, but didn't want to risk a picture of himself anywhere near the horses at work

                              • TBO was fine today. He didn't look anywhere near fit and the missed fences wouldn't have helped. He jumped a little right at times, but nothing alarming. He'll definitely want further and it will be interesting to see how Gordon campaigns him once he's fit and in the swing of things.
