  • Gavin Cromwell update on Flooring Porter:

With regard to his Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle winner, the Danestown handler said: “Flooring Porter hasn’t been back in as long but is hacking away.

"The main targets for him will be Leopardstown at Christmas and Cheltenham.

“We’re probably limited where we can go with him and we might start off at Navan in the Lismullen Hurdle over two and a half miles and then on to Christmas.”

As the trainer has stated his form is much, much better left-handed

      • Galvin is one of a few Gordon Elliott entries in the Kerry National. Farclas and Aramax also in there.

        • Flooring Porter.........12/1............ Mahoosive price the way he tore them to shreds in March.

I'd also say Put The Kettle On is a ridiculous price based on her Cheltenham record although I do acknowledge she maybe has a tougher task on paper. Those 2 are standout EW bets IMO

I wouldn't argue with that either, just based on her Cheltenham record but shiskin and engergumene make it a tougher task than last season.

Agree but those 2 have it to prove coming out of the Novice stage whereas Kettle has been there and got the T-shirt. It's a fascinating division.

PTKO is criminally underrated. People were crabbing her Arkle win and saying Chacun Pour Soi wouldn't have a problem beating her and now that I'd being repeated.

History says you have to respect Arkle winners in a Champion Chase, 25/1 or thereabouts for PTKO last Summer was an insane price but so was the 12/1 that was available the day or two before her Champion Chase win.
It was a classics Hype v Proven Quality match up and the market preferred Hype…

A bit harsh calling chacun all hype he’s proved to be a consistent grade1 winner he just didn’t have the Cheltenham form with it. I doubt ptko beats chacun anywhere other than Cheltenham.

I'm not sure ptko wouldve beaten chacun if they'd made more use of his jumping

Not riding him more aggressively negates his main strength

Not sure that's correct or the right way round.
PTKO had not won a grade 1 in open company coming to the Queen Mother.
And was well beaten in her only previous attempt.
Anyone backing PTKO antepost was a little fortunate that it looks like she is one of those specialist Cheltenham finishers.
She's not that good overall as her other races away from Cheltenham show.

I didn't call Chacun 'all hype', the point I was trying to make was that the favourite for a championship race who had never visited these shores was made a very strong fav against a horse who had won the Arkle and proved she acted on the track.
Chacun was/is clearly a very talented horse, my reference to hype was a comparison of their prices in the market.
The fact remains, Arkle winners must be taken very seriously when returning 12 months later for the champion chase...

                              • PTKO 4 from 4 at Cheltenham

All Grade 2 and Grade 1 wins

                                All against the geldings.

Don't recall another Mare doing the Arkle-Champion Chase Double in a generation, or ever? (let alone the Arkle Trial and Schloer wins) she is plenty good enough at the Racecourse that counts the most.

Thats what drives many peoples Festival betting strategy.

Maybe Chacun should come over to the Schloer to test out if the hill is going to beat him again, or if he could be the Champion in 2022.

Be great if he did, and PTKO and Shishkin turned up in November too.

Really looking forward to being there for three days and a quality Schloer Chase would be the icing on the cake,
