  • Am convinced there’s value in the Ryanair market - just not sure where yet…will be having a good look over the weekend.

…interesting what you make of Greaneteen. 20-1 with PP/Betfair, 12-1 365, Bryony Frost reckons it will be some horse next season over 2m 4f.

The fact he’s Nicholls trained would put me off. Will he even be aimed at Cheltenham? Could see him being aimed at the Melling Chase?

He'll surely be aimed at the Champion Chase again. Ran a very good race this year and would be expected to improve again with that experience behind him. Nicholls does target that race as well. Can't see him going anywhere else.

            • PN after Greaneteen beat Altiir over 2 at Sandown......

“They all say he will get two and a half (miles) but I’m not in a mad rush to go two and a half when they stay on strongly over two miles like that. His obvious target will be back here for the Tingle Creek''

Yeah and all last season Next Destination was an RSA horse.

The difference is Greaneteen has already been to the festival and proved himself there as well as beating the best of the English at Sandown over the minimum. Plus Nicholls has great history with Champion Chase runners/winners. If he runs well in the TC then I don't think he'll turn up anywhere else other than on the Wednesday.

I still can't forgive Paul Nicholls for that one .

I've backed Elimay at 9/2 as she looks the obvious one and will go off loads shorter. One that does stand out as a cover bet/ EW against her is Annie Mc. Unbeaten in Mares chases and was 8/1 for the race this year before being pulled out the day before with a minor injury. She's currently 16/1. Sensible to wait until she gets an entry this coming season but she is in my tracker as a nice alternative.

                      • Just a thought....with Colreevy smashing Monkfish and Monkfish sitting at the head of the GC betting, is there a case to make for Mullins sending Elimay down the Gold Cup route in view of her close 2nd to Colreevy in the Mares Chase???? With the 7lb allowance she would receive, she is pretty much on a par with Monkfish.

If Monkfish is anywhere near a Gold Cup horse surely you cant read too much into that form at Punchestown?

Or maybe you can give Elimay a big chance in the GC ??

I’d agree with BB in that maybe not reading too much into the Punchestown form.

I remember the rumours in the lead up to the race that he possibly had a back issue, this could maybe explain the lacklustre performance at Cheltenham as he was flawless prior to that.

Also before the off Colreevy was getting heavily backed, dropped about 3/4 points I’m sure. Says to me someone knows something especially from such a high profile yard.

And they obviously knew she was going shagging, so the Punters premium was increased nicely with another grade one against the boys.
