Aye i'm not too concerned about Monkfish, but either something isn't right with Envoi or he isn't getting 3miles in a million years. I'm prepared to accept he simply might not be as good as i'd hoped. That race with Fils D'oudaires at Punchestown keeps springing to mind. He got close enough, but Envoi woke up and kicked on. Everyone said it was just Envoi being Envoi, always doing enough, but maybe he's just very good rather than great? Or maybe the move really has had a big impact on him. Has to be serious thought given now to sending him back 'home'.
Fair play to Colreevy, no shock on weights/ratings, 9/1 looked silly beforehand but I still couldn't have had her beating both. Wonder if there'll be a rethink on her breeding plans?! Hard one to retire off when she's 5 from 5 and at this level!

Very strange run from Envoi, I wonder if he was still with Elliott would he have ran better? Not in anyway saying De bromhead is a poor trainer but the combination of moving and falling at cheltenham could have impacted him. They're animals after all and his whole life was turned upside down in an instant.
Hope to see him back to his best next season

Looking forward to that clash, how disappointing. Monkfish looks like it’s one race to many, though that’s two races now with questionable jumping. As for Envio?? Was beat far to soon, to say distance is to blame for me. Trainer comments will be interesting.

Allaho has actually ran a lot better then people are giving him credit for, Chacun does what he does to every horse he faces when A1 and burn them off mid race until the last. Allaho is a bit of an enigma as he doesn't win enough races full stop and his optimum trip leaves him only a couple of races a year he can potentially win but he has shown enough to be competitive in 2m races on that today imo. Long story short i'd want him back in the Ryanair again as his best chance but if he gets the oppertunity to run in a 2m race somewhere with a potentially uncontested lead he would still be interesting.

To me Envoi started off very careful and high at his jumps although that did improve as he went round (clearly that was due to the last race). Also whilst looking at him there I really think a wind op is needed and a drop back in trip. The tounge tie is clearly on because there is something not fully right with him. Its also not ideal to run a horse for the first time over a new trip in that sort of company after a fall. I think all that plus HDB form compared to Mullins atm affected his performance there. Going forward I’d be wary of him now as his confidence will have been hit pretty bad by the last two runs.
Monkfish on the other had I had heard rumours in the week that he had had injections in his back due to an injury. Though I don’t know how solid that source was. I did feel that he didn’t look that comfortable at some of his jumps. If it is that then back surgery needs to be on the cards.
In terms of Colreevy, she was brilliant and what a chasing career she’s had. As we saw at Cheltenham she jumps a little right at her fences and this was the perfect test for her today. I wouldn’t be surprised I’m they consider bringing her back after she’s given birth, for another go at it for a season before going to stud again.
One thing I really hope comes out of the results so far (and that are bound to increase over the week) with the number of mares winning these grade ones, is they need to remove the weight allowance they get in Grade 1’s as soon as possible. This is helping out top mares way too much. We need a system where in G1s mares get no allowance then going down in grade the gradually get a little bit more. Atm if there’s a good mare in the division they have such a huge advantage to the males
