If Allaho does go QMCC, do you think it will drift when loses earlier in the season?
My thoughts, could win today and slashed for it. Will bookies push it out (like they did with Ryanair) if gets beat early doors, always a spring horse who needs a few runs under his belt. Or do you think bookies will tweak on to it? Just a thought incase anyone over reacts and takes a short price on Allaho after today.
For what it’s worth, my view is that there’s no way Allaho will line up in the Champion Chase whatever happens today.
Willie has admitted he messed up by originally viewing him as a 3 miler.
in March they got it right and he was absolutely sensational in the Ryanair.
Are they really going to want to take on Shishkin and double up with Chacun in the CC when they know he is brilliant over the Ryanair trip.
Surely not.
I think Willie is using today as an experiment to provide further proof that they got it right in March and the mid range trip is Allaho’s optimum distance.
And even if he wins today they will be very loathe to take the risk by running in the CC next March.
I think that's probably correct. There is the possibility that at 10 Chacun may be better going up in trip though, and the two combined are what he wants to find out.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I think/hope you're right. All the talk after the Ryanair was of the horse finally having found his niche and of course he won it in memorable style. I see today as a 'there's no harm in finding out' job, if he wins by half the track again then you've got no choice really but to look at the CC. CPS has had his go after all and it wont be any easier next year for him if Shishkin turns up. Energumene complicates the equation of course.
Only 11 months to go...
If there was a 2m4f G1 chase at Punchestown, Allaho would be running there. Given the choice between 2m and 3m1f and Willie's surfeit of stayers, it's hardly significant in terms of next season.
Re Allaho, I think it's significant that Willie was discussing dropping him in trip even before he blew then away in the Ryanair. I truly believe he views him as a top 2 miler. We'll see today !
I think to rule it out completely at this stage is crazy, IF Allaho wins convincingly today, are you saying Willie wouldn't even consider the championship race?

I'm already on at 47/1 CC/GC. Monkfish would worry me today if he jumps like he did at Cheltenham. He won't get away with it with Envoi stalking. 2 fantastic races to look forward to today.

Of course, especially with Mullins, but archie is right in that the lack of a G1 20f chase is why he's in this race.
With Shishkin, Chacun and Energumene around next year I can't see the Queen Mother being a serious option and although I appear to be in a minority of one I wouldn't be shocked if Allaho was given another crack at 3m with a view to a Gold Cup bid...

IMO Chacun would be going for the 2 1/2 mile race if there was one
Iv seen nothing personally that suggests he wants further
Think he needs deep ground to show his best over 2 and looked caught for toe at the Fez. 2 1/2 around sharp Punchestown on fast ground would've suited him imo.
Echoes quickened up lovely there. Will need to sort her jumping out but that'll come. Looks a 2 miler through and through so Mares Hurdle won't be an option imo. Decent cover in Champion Hurdle. Nice start to the week!!
