Champ, Altior, Santini, I’m sure there are others, who all had the look of horses being ruined, Epatante may fall into the same group given how good she looked 18months ago and in the Fighting Fifth.
    Huge statement obviously…
I'm also cautious with these mares, they're a little bit moody (**not being sexist here**). Also shame as above, cautious with Hendo aswell this season
Epatante remains out best 2 mile hurdler, but thats it. Not to be discounted but... she's on the ropes a little and yet to be seen whether she'll bounce back

True. He did lose the plot last season.

We know she has the talent to win a CH. What price does she go if she wins the FF again? I bet she'd be single figures.

Seems a great one to back and then trade out of to my eye. 20.0 on the exchange is on the big side imo.

She clearly wasn't at her best last season. She's had an operation on her back to correct an issue which explains it. If she was back to her Churdle winning form then she'd be dangerous but it's a big ask 2 years on.

        • Didnt expect her to be 20.0, that too big considering she only had one target

Take out Honeysuckle (say she gets injured), Mullins will be running around re-routing something here (then again Echoes could be coming here anyway), Sharjah needs the race to be ran in a certain way and decent ground.... there's nothing coming from the supreme.

hmmmmm I may be tempted her despite what I said 30 minutes ago! 20.0 is decent enough

I agree, I’m already on 1pt each way at 16-1 with cash-out. I think she is a superb jumper of a hurdle and despite Henderson have illnesses in the yard last season she still ran pretty well in the Champion Hurdle. Moreover, she was clearly not in top form all season, not a patch on the season before. If you look at at her run, she hit one hurdle badly very early and then she got blocked at a crucial time. If the back operation has worked, I think she can really put it up to Honeysuckle this season. I’d much rather take these odds each way than lump on Honeysuckle at the prices.

              Or, enter Ferny

On a side note - I'm not buying into Ferny after seeing the likes my Saldier and Klassical Dream Champion Hurdle bets go down the drain
Ferny could be re-routed to CH, but he's 12/1 and likely to be much shorter if mullins (for what ever reason) goes down this route. Price would be cut as soon as anyone got a niff of it.

I've taken the 20.0 for Epatante, too big and would be surprised to see her any bigger as we head into March

Cask Mate too Lobos. Do you remember our debate about Beacon Edge last year?

Beacon Edge was 141 at the start of the season and he could have romped up in one of the big graded handicaps worth a lot of money, and still finish fourth in a Stayers. Meade just has no idea how to set out a seasonal plan unless it's just to run in graded races.

One year on, and now we have the exact same with Cask Mate. Currently 139 he's most likely more than a stone better than that. Where does he start him out, in a Grade 3 against Grade 1 horses. The handicapper will nail him for finishing fourth. He easily could be looked after and win a big pot first, rather just be an eternal bridesmaid with a ruined mark.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Poor Noel Meade Spectre......he's running today so not at the weekend.

Also not trying to be a massive Noel Meade apologist but i'd say Giggy will have been happy enough with him turning up in graded events, 3/4l in G1 behind Honey, then getting colic.....g2 winner. Get your point on h'cap plots with Meade in general though.

Clearly Kettle is in good form. I expect her to go Shloer next and then be saved for March.

Abbey Magic also declared in the race. She could be interesting for the Mares Chase.
