Really needs to tidy up the jumping as I do think he has all the other ingredients to be half decent. I was very disappointed with Annie G too. -
Yeah I don't think her form is that special. She's just been mopping up in the summer in easy races. She was well beaten in her first three races then came close to Gyspy Island who had been off the track for a while so wasn't match fit plus may have lost a bit of her talent after the injury. It's a bit of a cliche but my thought process is that generally pace wins the supreme, gears win the Ballymore. So the fact Henry doesn't think JWM has got gears is a concern for me having backed him. The Supreme tends to be an end to end gallop (similar to an Arkle which is why horses do well the next year) while the Ballymore tends to be run slower early with horses quickening in the final stages. Of course each renewal has different pace angles but I tend to use that as my general starting point when trying to pigeon hole horses this early in their career!Comment
