  • A decent suggestion Halffat1

My only worry with that, is that if they have targeted Aintree this year, they may well be using that as their no.1 target next year also.
It would depend greatly on the horse and more importantly, trainer in question

Absolutely. It wasn't a suggestion to only back Aintree horses but more to give extra consideration to Aintree horses to get them onside now, if they already appealed. Obviously if the April yankee is not bought forward a few days then this consideration is irrelevant anyway as both Aintree and Punchestown (except the last day) will be completed by 30 April.

Yeah we don't want a Yankee full of loads of "Cheltenham is just one week" British wastemen trained horses

        • James De Berlais for the Marsh. He’s currently 33/1 with B365, the owners love having a runner in the Marsh and he maybe turn out to be Mullins number 1 chaser next season based on expectations and his current rating

That’s where I’m hoping they target Haut en Coleurs...

Me too, francois nicolle was very sweet on him as a future chaser. Difficult to see him going anywhere else imo

                • Could be worth someone trying to price up Haut En Couleurs for the Marsh?

Envoi A price might get skinny after he beats that mullins boat

Bravemansgame.. More certain for the rsa than most of his protaganists.

Apt... Ryanair, related to the 2nd choice winning and going GC and cps splitting them.

Im bored and drinking beer in the sun so i might not agree with this myself in the morning.

Have to say that this is the best thread of the three years I’ve been doing these.

Thanks to everyone who’s put their nominations and and the excellent debates throughout the thread.

Decision will be out as usual on either late night 2nd of the month or early morning the 3rd. Gives me some time to re read the whole thread in once go and make a choice.

                              • For me, I'm looking at the moment for value and some certainty about target. I'm not keen on looking at the novice hurdlers yet since so much could emerge from beyond the bumper ranks. So I'll put up:

                                Epatante (CH)

Didn't get the prep or necessarily sort of run needed in the CH but did pretty well. I'm not seeing much coming from the novices, Honeysuckle probably stays but could go chasing. So I like current odds given her previous win, age and feasible bounce back next year.

                                Energuemene (RA)

If CPS split their horses, I can see Allaho going CC and Envoi ending up here leaving Energuemene as a good Mullins choice. I think New course would suit better than Old and he was tight with Shishkin heading into the Arkle. Definite value here if he runs.

                                Bob Olinger (Marsh)

Just looked amazing in the Ballymore. The Marsh looks natural and he will probably scare a lot away to the RSA. Current odds could look amazing come March next year.

                                Black Tears (MH)

Broke my heart this year. But should've seen it coming. Her course and Festival form now looks really strong, especially since she's had some tough runs. Concertista potentially going CH would leave her in a strong position. I think getting her in the book now at current odds makes sense.
