Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Staying in their Box

This week is likely to see a number of articles highlighting horses that ran well at the festival - I’m surprised we don’t have a thread on this yet.

I thought it it might be interesting to have a look for horses where their form has been franked whilst ‘staying in their box’.

There’s some obvious ones here and nothing that can’t be found by simply reading the form book. Just thought it might be useful for others and save people a bit of time.

Comments/thoughts welcome. Feel free to add any others to the list.

    Allart
5th in a Supreme that is potentially looking as hot as the one won by Altior in 2016. The 2020 Supreme has this year’s Arkle winner (Shiskin) and 3rd (Captain Guiness), Marsh winner (Chantry House) and 3rd (Asterion Forlonge), Coral Cup winner (Heaven Help Us) and RSA 2nd (Fiddlerontheroof). Allart on his first start over fences beat Fiddlerontheroof readily at Ascot. Fell at Haydock and missed the festival.

    Duffle Coat
Unbeaten juvenile, last run in the Triumph hurdle trial over C&D in November. At the time, thought it was a weak race on paper but his 5 length beating of Adagio giving him 5lbs (coming from last to first) looks strong form albeit Adagio has improved significantly over the season.

    Echoes In Rain
Disappointedly not entered in the Mares Novice Hurdle at the festival. Beat Belfast Banter with Streets of Doyen in 6th (prep over too short a trip) at Naas over 2 miles on last run. Free going sort who needs to learn to settle.

    Fantasio D’Alene
His run splitting Vanillier and Stattler (front 3 miles clear of the 4th) looked decent form before the festival and was franked this week. Beaten in January on next start at long odds after bleeding and not seen since.

    Farouk D’Alene
Beat Vanillier in G2 at Limerick in January over 3 miles pulling 7 lengths clear of the 3rd. Jumped right on previous run at Navan.

    Get My Drift
Beaten just over 2 lengths by Galopin Des Champs (GDC) in November (getting 7lb) and finished just ahead of Mighty Blue (3rd in Mares Novice Hurdle). Came out on Boxing Day and won comfortably at Leopardstown. Looks on a good mark on 131.

    Global Equity
Maiden over hurdles but has ran some decent races in defeat and split Heaven Help Us and Telmesomethinggirl at the DRF. Has ran twice since then (stepped up in trip) and ran very disappointingly last time. Mark of 125.

    Lieutenant Rocco
Well fancied for Ultima before being pulled out weekend before the festival. Split Marsh winner and 2nd at Cheltenham in December. Impressive win at Ffos Las, likes soft ground and perhaps will be put away for next season – Hennessey?

    Pencilfulloflead
Decent hurdler who has improved for fences and best run a 7 length beating of Latest Exhibition in a G2 at Punchestown. Gave 7lb and beaten half a length by Colreevy looks a much better run now she’s unbeaten in four starts over fences. Slightly disappointing last time. Best form on soft ground.

    Ronald Pump
Missed festival due to injury. Finished 2nd in Stayers in 2020 and started this season with a fall at the last at Navan where he looked like he’d be involved at the finish. Likely to be flattered by close defeat by Honeysuckle (reportedly needed run) but on a line through Sire Du Berlais, he’s likely to have run well last week.

    Sea Ducor
Won the race that Get My Drift finished 3rd in and beat GDC and Mighty Blue. Finished 2nd and promising run behind Master McShee in a handicap at Leopardstown at Xmas but pulled 5 lengths clear of third. Mark of 135.

    Top Moon
Finished 2nd at a big price and in front of both The Shunter and Encoutas at the DRF. Beaten on Saturday at Thurles when stepped up in trip. Interesting back at 2 miles.

Great idea & great work! Dusart would be the obvious one for me after Soaring Glory’s subsequent runs.

On a similar(ish) theme, worth noting stewards reports for each day for potential reasons certain horses might not have done as well as expected, or obvious excuses for some etc.
