Some very nice priced winners too in Black Tears 33/1, Jeff Kidder 55/1, Galvin 22/1, Allaho 16/1, Quilixios 25/1, Vanillier 22/1 & Galopin Des Champs 28/1

Two very nice touches I'm delighted with was turning two €5 free bets from Sky into 253.5pt winning multiples.

Thanks to all the members for their contributions over the last year & again a massive well done to FM on his fantastic Friday!
A big thank you Sean for putting up Jeff Kidder for the Boodles. I looked into him after reading your post and liked the combination of Noel Meade and the bottom horse in a juvenile handicap so backed him at 80/1, I was hopeful of a place so the win was incredible.

Only my second proper year doing antepost and it will be tough to match this years. It did seem like a year like no other with the quality of favs in the novice department (Albert Bartlett aside).

      Roll on next year

P.S Cheltenham only finished on Friday, let’s not be getting too carried away for next year! We’ll all be able to enjoy spending our winnings and meeting friends very soon, that will take our minds off horses for a little. The bookies are bad enough let’s not help by tanking in already to cut horses we have no idea where they are heading Aintree and Punchestown to come too!
Yeah good advice Craig, I’ve still not had an antepost bet for 2022, I was going to try and make some money from Aintree & Punchestown first.

Been there done that! The upside is though when you have a winner and discover that you have backed it twice in the mayhem that is Cheltenham

I use them for their boosts but I’ve had my fingers burnt too many times now with bets not confirming before the off with Ladbrokes, I’m not sure if it’s my phone but I find Ladbrokes and Unibet really slow to navigate around and get the race up you need!!!

That hasn’t happened to me for a long time....it’s usually the opposite where I’ve scanned through my list of settled bets and realised I’ve backed a loser a few times on accident....I bet King Ottoker e/w twice on accident on Saturday and he didn’t even place

I only use the websites but I also find them a bloody nightmare. My theory and I could be completely wrong is that their web/app pages require more data to load due to the pages having too much fancy crap on them. Contrast with 365 which is bog standard and I can flick through pages instantly. Part of me wonders if certain bookies knowing that speed in placing a bet is very useful for successful punters make their websites/apps slow on purpose.

In points, i staked 160 and cashed out just under 1200.... About 950 of them landed as Minella Indo crossed the line. Biggest rush of the year no doubt and the very reason we're all here.

In reality, it is cash in the bank, a new very very nice pc and next year's antepost book all bought and paid for.

Thank you to everyone on this site, I have dabbled in ante post markets for about five years, though mainly quite close the week itself so the 2020 Festival was my first attempt at putting together a well considered book well in advance. I netted a 950pt return on a 125pt book in 2020 and due to that success I slightly upped the outlay in points this year and from a 225pt book there were 2018pts returned. Two successes that have led to me posting my diary for the first time this year, naively quite possibly as I am due a bad year right! In both years I needed one horse for the life changer, Delta Work last year and Fakir D'oudaires this, but neither hit the bullseye but I can't moan, the last two years have been exciting, enjoyable and profitable.

Most of that is due to this forum. I don't back blind selections, the information and debate on this site points me into directions I may never have explored for myself. Whether I agreed or disagreed, whether you were right or wrong it's a tremendous place to share and discuss and for that I thank everyone who has ever participated.

The antepost bets I did best on were the ones I staked early so from last April to July and then from February up to the start of the Festival. That’s probably because I had placed so many TWAR bets with Hills, Sky and Powers to lay the foundations on the singles returns and back up in the Multiples. I had TWAR’s on Appreciate It, Galvin, Bob Olinger, Monkfish, Sir Gerhard, Chantry House, Allaho, Galopin De Champs plus many places horses which helped improve my return each race.

The bets placed from October to January struggled as horses either missed Cheltenham through injury or trainer/owner deciding to swerve it or the horse just not being good enough on the day.

I think a number of trends for the Festival held up:

Horses previously performing well at the Festival returning and either winning or placing regardless of their seasons form - PTKO, Chantry House, Minella Indo and Tiger Roll to name a few

Injured horses from previous Festivals either under performing or not turning up - CPS, Klassical Dream, Paisley

My TWAR single bets were again really successful with the likes of Chantry House, Bob Ollinger, Monkfish, Galvin, Sir Gerhard, Put The Kettle On and Quixilos all placed early doors at big odds and all obliging. I just love the stress free thought of when they are placed you can just sit back and enjoy watching the merry go round of race juggling. This year may prove more difficult as the bookies seem to have cottoned on but I'll sniff out some little beauties no doubt.

It’ll prove more difficult if none of them do it. Only skybet with a market so far if you can call it that

I suppose NH racing finished early last season so the TWAR may have been put up earlier than normal by Hills?? I can’t remember when it appeared in 2019. There is no value in the Skybet TWAR market at the moment though. With 12 months to go I’m sure they’ll be plenty of opportunities to get the horses we want on board and with 5 weeks left of the current season there is still plenty of racing to be seen

yeah that would make sense plus most of Ladbrokes markets are geared around casinos, slots and other bollocks and the UK & Ireland sports coverage is really limited
