In a word, no. Connections have said they would love to emulate Dawn Run in winning the Champion Hurdle and the Gold Cup but imo they'll not want to risk a highly valuable Mare over fences who they want to ultimately breed off. Also, the fact that her owner was unable to see her win the 2 mile crown in the flesh this year must be a big factor. IMO I think he'll want to see her retain her hurdling title next year.

Yeah I think that's fair, though probably another one whose price won't retract much during the Summer/Autumn and that 2/1 you want will probably still be there well into the Winter...

I was always confident shiskin would go arkle and envoi to the marsh and backed accordingly, I'm nowhere near as confident where ai and bob will go so haven't backed either as any race price is too short.

The fact is the owner is clearly not afraid of a challenge and chasing has been mentioned. She schools regularly over a fence every Sunday according to an interview with hdb. It’s now or never if she’s going to do it. I’d rather take 2/1 knowing she’s staying over hurdles than the 3/1 now. I agree with this. I think they have some big ambitions for Honeysuckle i.e. do a Dawn Run. I’m going to keep my powder dry for the time being.

For your portfolio, I hope you’re right Lobos, however, I fear you may have called this one too early. I recall your reasoning earlier in season for them targeting the Champion Hurdle this season was because they’d already won the Mares Hurdle the season before. I agreed with your thinking at the time but now they’ve won the Champion Hurdle I think they’ll take aim at a new target.

            • I’d still make the champion hurdle honeysuckle’s most likely target but not enough to part with a chunk of cash at 3/1. Il sit and wait

                • A nice comfortable win there by Jonbon. Love it. Will probably be cut now!

                  • ......Jonbon into a best price 12-1 after that win.

With Sir Gerhard in multiples and Jonbon at 33/1 covered I'm already feeling unreasonably prepared for next year's Supreme!

....ha, ha, until Jonbon starts getting linked with Ballymore as a more likely target (12-1 with 365 for Ballymore).

Looking ahead almost two years, Hills have Jonbon:
                        Supreme/Arkle @ 33-1
                        RSA @ 33-1

Jonbon was fine at 25/1+ which I took, but that's too short IMO

.....I have it in the book too for the Supreme, but I suppose the issue is if the target us Ballymore.

                            • ....interested to see how Belle Metal’s price for MNH is impacted after her run today. Currently 20-1, would’ve liked to have seen a ‘win today’ offer for consideration.

Jonbon is good and everything but doesn't beat Kilcruit in the Ballymore imo.
