You have the honour of being Day One captain. I have decided that your superb performance in the tipping competition merits putting out a strong opening batsman to try and get us off to a good week, and if not, at least we might get a few laughs in the write ups


The point of these yankee's, is for us all to back them for (min stakes is fine) so we have a collective yankee to support on Day One! With it being collective yankee, as much engagement as possible is encouraged.




Win only, each way, handicaps, shorties, no-hopers, popular horses, personal fancies, tips from the other yankees, cases made elsewhere, random guesses... all up to you .....Your decision will be final.


Final selection to be put up on Monday 15th March, by 15:00 please.

With short price Favourites dominating the first 3 races on Tuesday and some uncertainty currently about runners in the Ultima, Boodles and Mares hurdle, how about an E/W Yankee where targets are more settled.

Given that the majority on the Forum are probably already on Appreciate It, Shishkin and the two Mares in the CH, this is more of a consolation theme Yankee but with reasonable place potential. It does though finish with a Forum Favourite to bring home the bacon.

That could easily be the way to go - seems pretty similar to what johnthehammer had in mind if I understood him right.

How would everyone feel about trying something along these lines (or something completely different, we can discuss it):

1. We keep the ideas coming for win/each way yankees and/or put forward suggestions for individual horses which could be included in a yankee.

2. Then around a week before the Festival starts we draw up a short-list of the best/most popular ideas we've come up with - maybe 5 or so on the short-list.

3. Then on the final weekend before the Festival we vote for the yankee we are going to pull the trigger on. Final decs will be known on Sunday morning so as Q says we've got time and voting could close at noon on Monday to give us the chance to get the money down.

Just an idea - if it's rubbish do say so (I'm sure you will!!) - and float another cunning strategy.

I’d leave the Arkle alone as shishkin/energumene wins so you’re giving up the win part already and going for just the 1 place in all likelihood. The 3m handicap chase will probably offer at least 5places nearer the time so I’d go for something in that instead.
