Think i heard that Garry Sheehan is getting a helicopter over from Warwick to Newbury so he can ride Rouge Vif and thebannerkingrebel so I wonder if hes just jumping in so maybe not quite the pointer it looks, but certainly worth keeping an eye on the betting at the least

Does look a fairly hot bumper for over here so Fergals runner at Newbury probably appeals a lot more than his runner at Warwick I suppose. I know (don’t think) he’s a stable jockey but uses him a fair bit so you’d assume he would have been on the runner at Warwick.

A mate noticed that Paddy Brennan was riding at Warwick today but then heads to Newbury to ride Fergals horse Brief Ambition in the bumper. Do we read much into that? 4th at Cheltenham behind Israel champ last time after winning on debut.
Edit - Fergal has a horse in the Warwick bumper hence mentioning this
Brief Ambition
He ran a good race when fourth at Cheltenham back in November and I think that form entitles him to a lot of respect here, especially as I think he hated every second of the heavy ground that day. His point win came on good ground, and I think he has been crying out for a return to a decent surface. He is right up there with our better bumper horses, and he has a good chance in a typically competitive Newbury bumper.

Bryan Drew update having purchased Panic Attack
"To be honest it was an easy decision to give her to David. I've been a long-standing owner there and he has invested in his facilities and he has invested in a lot of good youngsters and most importantly he has been delivering the results."
However, despite her prominence in the ante-post betting for Cheltenham, Drew refused to confirm that was a definite target.
He said: "We are still learning about her, to be honest. I think you would say that both the Aintree Grade Two (mares') race and the Champion Bumper will be under consideration.
"It is a big ask to take a four-year-old to the Champion Bumper, but we will give it a lot of thought and all the doors are open to her.
"She is an exciting prospect and I can't wait to see her in my blue and orange silks."

I’ve been let down betting David Pipe horses so many times over the past 3 years and whilst it’s a big surprise to see Panic Attack move stables to him the Pipe yard is in really good form at present. I don’t know the current strike rate but I’ve noticed many more Pipe trained winners since the start of the year so maybe a revival at Pond House is underway??

This is a weird old race right now.
If you were starting from scratch and hadn’t had a bet at this point, who would it be and why? I honestly don’t think I fancy anything and having cashed Ferny and POP unlikely to run, I’m stumped. I did whack a 2 point free bet on the fav at 11/4 as she was crossing the line the other day but I really don’t fancy her at that price and I think it was a bit of a panic bet in all honesty.

Looks miles clear of the Irish and they look miles clear of the UK lot.
