Hello Fat Jockeys,

  • Fair play to anyone betting in that Quevega today. Absolute headscratcher. Elfile needs to step up and i expected her to do so this year, but hasn't just yet. Everything points to Laurina, she's getting bloody weight even...Couldn't back her after the last two efforts still.
Black Tears for me got a great ride and a lovely opening at the finish...needs big field. Emily Moon travelled well in mares handicap before interference + migth be being brough a long with a Punchestown handicap in mind.

Just been looking at Laurina's price for today and she's even money.
But it's not tempted me - yet.

I was about to say i'd wanna wait until later to say how the proper market plays out, but she was strong enough last time as well. Didn't hear anything about her bleeding last time at least? A proper tricky race, i'd rather bet the mares maiden! + no not the Lamackise form lol

        • Don't know if its been mentioned anywhere else but since yesterday, the exchange is pointing Honeysuckle CH, Benie to Mares more than ever. I'v only Honeysuckle backed in the Mares so myself so it is annoying but with the Mares Hurdle in Ptown today, is it worth backing anything NRNB EW?

Black Tears would interest me a bit at 40/1. Nothing to lose backing Surin at 200/1...

If that decision was made Lady Buttons would probably come here too. May be clutching at straws but her work rider did say she's looking much better this year. 20s probably a bit big if Honeysuckle is a no show.

          • I understand the concern about her last two runs but watch her last run back at Sandown (I was there) and she was show jumping every fence and losing multiple lengths each time, literally sailing a few feet clear of the birch. They were both G1’s and as good ash she is she cannot concede 5 lengths at every fence...She’s just not a chaser.

Since being with Willie the only hurdle race she hasn’t won was the CH and everyone on here is getting concerned about a stable mate rated 17lbs lower and giving her 3lbs...I hope you all spend some time in the mirror before next month

I have no doubt she’s going to make me look like a complete muppet in a few hours when Townend pulls her up half way round but a year ago she was 30/100 for this race giving Stormy Ireland 6lbs. Don’t miss the value here or at the festival!!!

                  • Thanks delsie and billymag, I was being rather flippant and I am definitely more hopeful than confident.

Just don’t think she ever looked comfortable chasing and like Thomas Derby did earlier in the year, I am hoping she will come right back to form when she’s happy over the smaller obstacles

She bled first time in a G1. Let's not ignore facts.

You could be right thought she could make her price look silly.

With bleeders it's about recovery time.
Having bled for the first time in the champion hurdle she has been pulled up on both starts where she has raced five weeks since her last start, should she appear at Cheltenham she will be racing six weeks from her Scilly Isles effort.
Not enough for me, if she skips Cheltenham and heads to Aintree I'd be very interested on the back of a nine week break...

                        • Not heard that before that bleeders need time between races, Ive always thought that when they get asked for maximum effort again ie on the big day, they are likely to bleed again. I know they can take meds but the experience for the horse cant be nice and I wouldnt want to back a horse if there was a chance that they wouldnt want to give their all coz of a memory of what had already happened, in addition to what could actually happen.

Suppose like all these things its down to price your willing to take.

They are billy, but the longer they are not asked for maximum effort, in other words resting at home, the better the chance of vessels not bursting when the horse is eventually asked for effort.
I'm no vet but that's how I've always understood it...

Mmmm, I assumed she had given her relatively poor running and thought I'd seen this somewhere but that may not be the case, it was confirmed she bled at Christmas
