One For The Team made a convincing case for inclusion in Nick Williams’s Cheltenham Festival team with a 14 lengths victory on trainer’s son Chester in the Betfair Bet In-Play Handicap Hurdle.

“We are trying to get to the Pertemps Final, but he may have done his handicap mark there,” said Colin Garner of the Forty Winks Syndicate. “He is in the Albert Bartlett as well.”
At the moment I think the aim is to go chasing next season. In recent seasons the Pertemps has produced two top notch novices in Presenting Percy and Delta Work. If they wanted to go the novice hurdle route this season they could follow the Delta Work path and take in the three mile Grade 1 at Punchestown? Chance of better ground and a much smaller field.

    • Lord Royal smashed off the boards 4/5 into 1/2 for today’s race.

      • Run Wild Fred 66-1 with bet365 if you fancy it

        • Disappointed that Lord Royal couldn’t pick up RWF there but think he’ll have learnt a lot from that run. Would much rather Townend have let him bowl along / up in the van but not lost all hope. Form boost for those who like Monkfish

          • Form boost for Monkfish who had RWF covered last time, have added 1pt at 7/1

Weak in the market and a laboured performance. Would probably have been third without the spoiler on the front end.

Hard to think there would be much point in sending any of them to the Festival.

Yes, it looks like Latest Exhibition and Thyme Hill wouldn’t be troubled by today’s runners.

                • I thought when RWF fell he was level with Monkfish at the front of the field ?

And perhaps for Diol Ker, who beat Monkfish? Though that seems a long time ago now and I'm a little concerned that it has no entries bar Cheltenham and no news seems to be coming out. I'm starting to be resigned to the fact that DK is unlikely to be coming over for this.

                    • Only his second run but I was disappointed he couldn’t beat RWF there.

Was getting 3lbs as well from the winner.

Glad I’ve only backed nrnb as not sure he’ll turn up now.

                      • Lord Royal perhaps more likely to drop back in trip after that?

Certainly did 'stay' the trip, but in my opinion not ready for a Grade 1 at 3 miles at the moment?

Did Willie say anything after? Would love him in the Ballymore

                        • Not sure if something was physically wrong with him today, maybe it was a mental problem but I couldnt take any positives out of the run when considering him for a Grade 1, didnt seem to want/able to go through with his run.

3 miles in Heavy is a decent enough reason not to go through with the run... and he didn't exactly shape badly? He just was not staying on strongest?

Bit harsh IMO, but then again, he's not even that likely to make the boat now is he, pretty close to the festival after being beaten and he's not exactly short for novices.

                            • Mullins says Janidil will go for the Albert Bartlett - still 50-1 with Bet365, that's huge. Won three big field hurdles on the bounce over 2 miles after being beaten just over a length by Notebook on his debut for Willie in the Autumn. Second of 18 on very soft over 2m 2f at Auteuil 18 months ago. Having watched Janidil's races I get the impression he's got every chance of staying the AB trip and could spring a surprise.

                                Quote from WM open day:

Lord Royal - “disappointing yesterday but could still turn up in Albert Bartlett”
