  • That Sporting John result was good for Thyme Hill backers here. Doubt PH would send both Ballymore

    • Oh my God, Ramses De Teillee is an absolute good thing here isn't he?

Think he might need it soft and a very good gallop but he'll not give up I reckon.

If they get today’s conditions then yes. Would not be that keen on good ground though.

He'll need it to pour down the night before, otherwise I think he'll find a few too good.

            • Think he will struggle to keep up myself. Agree with Jackie and F_M. Needs a deluge.

              • Impossible to rule out.

Will have THE most experience, be THE most battle-harded, be THE highest rated **(total guess)

He has won on Good to Soft before, has a 2nd in Good ground.

It's not going to be any better than Good to Soft so I'm not going to use ground as an excuse.

                • I think the runner up would almost certainly have beaten him on G/S today and not sure hes Championship level!.

Think he will be top rated or close to it.
And it's more than likely a truer reflection than the ratings given to the proper novices, given his overall form.

Not always a Championship level horse that wins this race....

He might end up being a Grand National winner too...

I think he's better than you're giving credit for.... but it's a race I like loads in, and usually do

I might top up on him actually, I do really think he's a likely sort for the race.

                        • Will be interesting to see his price, ordinarily I would think he could stay on to a place but I think it’s win or bust, why waste his National to plug on into 4th

Slick jumper for someone who has been over a fence

What makes you think he's a win or bust type horse?

The horse clearly gives his all..... the jockey will be a passenger as he's grinding his way up the rail

I don’t think the horse is win or bust but those would be the instructions I’d give to the jockey, if he’s outpaced on the bend don’t go hell for leather for a minor place

                              • I may be going crazy but I cannot get over the price disparity between Ramses and The Butcher Said. The former is 12/1 in places but 14/1 with Unibet who go 100/1 the latter. On the Cheltenham October form there is nothing between them with Ramses winning by 4 1/2 lengths in receipt of 8 pounds. Factoring in the fact he relished the heavy ground whereas The Butcher Said would have hated it, would make you think things could be very different on better ground. The Butcher Said's only run since was in a race run at a crawl for the first 2 mies and he wasn't able to pick up off the slow pace.He will be much fresher than most of these and 66/1 nrnb could be the way to go.
